Biography[]
Basic Training[]
During Carol Danvers' enlistment, Chen was called in by Jenks and berated for Danvers' screw up during the oath. Chen left with Danvers and was consoled by Resendiz who understood what she was going through with Jenks' attitude. She then led the women to get their haircuts and airmen uniforms. Afterwards, she brought every member to their dorm, having Danvers and Maria Rambeau share a room.
The next day was the first day of camp. Chen and Resendiz help a competition for the soldiers. Afterwards, Chen called Tom Bianchi and Danvers to fall in after the did not hear the first command. Weeks later, Chen and Resendiz put the privates in competitions for field day. They then accompanied the trainees to Jacks Valley and approached Danvers and Rambeau when it was time for them to undergo chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear training. They attended Acceptance Day for the trainees, where they gave parting advice to them.[1]
Recognition[]
Chen and Resendiz resumed working together for the United States Air Force Academy's Recognition ceremony, where they led the cadets through the first day. They ran the events, and when the squadron fell into formation for the final day of Recognition, Chen and Resendiz yelled inspirationally at each cadet. When Chen reached Carol Danvers, she told Danvers that she had demonstrated to them that she was capable of great things, but that it was more important that Danvers had demonstrated it to herself. Chen told Danvers she was proud, and the two shared a moment of recognition as two women who had dealth with Jenks dismissing them. Chen then commended Erik Del Orbe's determination and Garrett Pierre's kindness. At the Recognition dinner, Chen and Resendiz gave each cadet their pins.[1]
