- "I'll tell you what I see. A scared, desperate man who's playing his last card instead of his best one. Maybe you'll get away for now. But I'll never stop hunting you. Me, and all those millions who think like me. Because you and your Hydra buddies aren't facing a man in this war. You're facing an ideal. That all people deserve to be free. And you can't kill an ideal with bullets-- or smother it with bombs."
- ―Captain America[src]
The Chase of the Hydra Spies was a mission undertaken by Captain America in order to retrieve a series of stolen SSR documents from a group of Hydra spies, who were captured thanks to the cooperation of civilians.
Background[]
In the midst of World War II, Hydra agents stole SSR files and tried to escape before Captain America could catch them.[1]
Chase[]
Captain America chased Hydra goons down the street on his motorcycle. The goons tried to make it to the Docklands before Captain America could catch them. Rogers threw his shield, which ricocheted off of their wheel, sending them crashing into the building ahead. They quickly went into an air raid station and held a boy hostage. Rogers stood up to the man, which made him turn his gun on Rogers. Hearing the captain's speech, the surrounding people attacked the Hydra man, retrieving the files.[1]
Aftermath[]
In the early 2010s. Nick Fury used this event to prove to the World Security Council that Captain America's ability to inspire people was timeless, even in a new world.[1]
