Chase[]

"You killed him? I needed to talk to that guy. About a dig site. Guess I'm gonna have to talk to you instead."
Marc Spector to Alpha[src]

Arriving at Cairo, Marc Spector tried to find an informant who had a lead to Arthur Harrow's digging crew, however, he was killed by local Disciples of Ammit. As Alpha claimed that he will never find Harrow, Spector engaged in a brawl with the disciples, who were armed with knives. Spector was able to avoid all of their attacks and put a knife to Alpha's neck, however, he then spotted Steven Grant in the reflection of the blade who pleaded with him not to hurt them. Suddenly, Spector blacked out and awoke in a cab, realizing that Grant asked the driver to take him to the airport, so they could leave Egypt.

Getting out of the car, Spector confronted the disciples once again, who tried to run away, so Spector pursued them through a crowded bazaar. He managed to catch Beta, however, he was again distracted by Grant, allowing Alpha to hit Spector in the back of his head. Spector then blacked out once again and found himself plunging a dagger into Beta, with Alpha also being dead. Spector blamed Grant for killing the disciples before he could extract any of the information, but Grant claimed that he had nothing do with that. Khonshu then told Spector to interrogate the last surviving disciple, taking him to the ledge of a cliff, but instead of talking, the disciple chose death and fell from the height.[3]

Aftermath[]

"What the hell's wrong with you, Steven?"
"Me? You're the one going on a killing spree."
"I didn't do any of this."

With no leads as where to find Arthur Harrow, Marc Spector asked Khonshu if they could ask other Ennead for help to take him down. Although Khonshu was concerned about bringing their wrath upon himself, he decided to call for a judgement of Harrow and summoned an eclipse to send Ennead a signal. The Ennead Council, consisting of Osiris, Isis, Tefnut, and Hathor summoned Spector and Khonshu to the Chamber of the Gods inside the Great Pyramid of Giza. As Harrow was brought to the Chamber to be judged, Khonshu took over Spector's body and openly accused Harrow of trying to resurrect Ammit.

However, Harrow easily disputed Khonshu's accusations, claiming that he is blinded by jealousy and paranoia, telling the Council that Khonshu cannot be trusted. As a proof to his assessment, he pointed at Spector and his condition, saying that Khonshu had been mistreating an unwell man. Both Khonshu and Spector failed to prove their case against Harrow, so the Ennead Council concluded that he was innocent. However, Yatzil trusted Spector and told him about Senfu, whose sarcophagus contained a secret location of Ammit's tomb. Since the sarcophagus was stolen and sold on the black market, Spector joined forces with Layla El-Faouly to meet with Anton Mogart to investigate the sarcophagus.[3]
