It's Inspired
"Oh, Phastos, it's inspired!"
The subject of this article is part of an MCU franchise story "inspired" by the canon of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and is thus not considered official canon.

The Chase of Rocket was the result of a bounty put on Rocket's head by another Bounty Hunter, who was tired of seeing Rocket and Groot's success in claiming bounties over the galaxy.

However, and despite thinking that Groot had betrayed him, Rocket was able to locate the hunter and, with Groot's help, coerce him into cancelling the whole ordeal.

Background[]

A Bounty Hunter became annoyed with Rocket and Groot's success as bounty hunters, so he placed a bounty on Rocket himself. Meanwhile, Rocket successfully captured Baldo, and were given a lower price than promised by D'Xtar. The two left angrily.[1]

Chase[]

Rocket and Groot were stopped by a woman outside of a bar, who had overheard Rocket's mention of D'Xtar giving them a lower-than-promised price. She offered to buy them a drink, and Rocket followed her inside, despite Groot's weariness. They found themselves surrounded by the Bounty Hunter who had placed the bounty and several others. While the Bounty Hunter asked Rocket how he got his name, Rocket took out a weapon and caused an explosion, running out of the bar.

As other people ran past them, Groot picked up Rocket in order to protect him. However, Rocket confused Groot's actions for betrayal, so he shot Groot's thumb off and fled into a locked room. He found the Bounty Hunter there, who was getting ready to kill him. However, Groot entered the room, having defeated the other hunters. He threatened the Bounty Hunter, who quickly cancelled the bounty.[1]

Aftermath[]

Rocket and Groot left Paramatar, with the bounty on Rocket having been lifted. Rocket apologized to Groot for assuming Groot would betray him.[1]
