The Thunderbolts were restrained by Winter Soldier, who took them to an abandoned garage, intending to use them as evidence against Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in her impeachment trial. They explained their situation to him, including Bob Reynolds, but he remained sceptical. However, after receiving a call from Mel Gold, who confirmed the dangers of Project Sentry, Winter Soldier decided to free the Thunderbolts, urging them to join him in stopping de Fontaine. Although Yelena Belova doubted their suitability for the task, Winter Soldier encouraged them to confront their pasts and do the right thing.
