The Centipede Soldier #3 is an agent of the Centipede Project, who served as one of their Centipede-enhanced Super Soldiers through the use of the Centipede Serum.
Biography[]
As a former soldier of the United States Armed Forces he was recruited into the Centipede Project, a branch of HYDRA founded by the Clairvoyant, an alias used by John Garrett. As part of this project he was equipped with multiple Centipede Devices and a Backscatter X-Ray Eye Implant.
One of his first tasks as part of the Centipede Project was participating in the prison break of Edison Po from the Havenworth Federal Penitentiary.
Together with some other Centipede Soldiers he laid in an ambush for the S.H.I.E.L.D. team led by Phil Coulson in Oakland, California. During the ambush he fought hand to hand with agents Grant Ward and Melinda May until ordered to retreat by Raina.
During the hostage exchange of Ace Peterson for Phil Coulson he accompanied Raina.[1]
He escorted Coulson to the Centipede base in the Mojave Desert and stood guard as Edison Po and Raina used the Theta Brain-Wave Frequency Machine on him. While on patrol he discovered Skye and chased her until being hit by Coulson's Team in the S.H.I.E.L.D. SUV. After freeing Coulson, S.H.I.E.L.D. took him in custody.[2]

- Artificially Enhanced Physiology: Due to use of the Centipede Device, a blood-filtering device made of Chitauri metal that delivers a combination of Extremis, gamma radiation, and elements of the Super Soldier Serum into his system, the Soldier has come to possess various superhuman abilities.
- Enhanced Strength: The Centipede Serum gave the Soldier enhanced strength, enough to send one of the guards of Havenworth Federal Penitentiary flying with a single punch. This allowed him to easily fight highly trained S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Grant Ward and Melinda May.
- Enhanced Durability: The Centipede Serum gave the Soldier enhanced durability, allowing him to survive being hit by Mike Peterson and even a S.H.I.E.L.D. SUV with minimal injuries.
- Enhanced Speed: The soldier was able to quickly escape running from the Oakland Centipede Laboratory once receiving orders to do so and abandon Brian Hayward, who had just been knocked down.
- Enhanced Agility: The soldier's agility was increased, being able to surprise and hit Phil Coulson before Mike Peterson could react to protect him.
- Enhanced Stamina: The soldier's stamina was considerably increased while the effects of the Centipede Serum lasted, allowing him to be deployed in missions and battle Mike Peterson as well as Coulson's Team for a considerable amount of time. However, after each mission, the soldier would feel extremely tired and need regular injections of the serum.
- Enhanced Reflexes: The soldier's agility allowed him to dodge some of the attacks from Mike Peterson during their fight at the Oakland Centipede Laboratory. However, he could not dodge a S.H.I.E.L.D. SUV that caught him by surprise.
- Enhanced Vision: The soldier was given a Backscatter X-Ray Eye Implant. This allowed him to see through solid objects, but came at a cost. His eye was able to be accessed by Centipede Project members like Raina and Edison Po. If Hayward disobeyed, they could press a button that blows his skull open from his head.
- Regenerative Healing Factor: The Centipede Device allowed the soldier to heal from his injuries very quickly.

- Expert Combatant: The soldier's fighting skills were great enough that he could easily fight highly trained S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Melinda May and Grant Ward.

- Centipede Device: The Centipede Soldier was outfitted with a device made of Chitauri metal which injects a serum based on Abraham Erskine's Super Soldier Serum mixed with gamma radiation and Extremis, designed to enhance his physical attributes to a super-human level.
- Backscatter X-Ray Eye Implant: A prosthetic ocular implant that allowed the Centipede Soldier to see through solid objects when his eyes were closed. It was also the means used by his handler to send orders and instructions.
