The Centipede Soldier #2 is an agent of the Centipede Project, who served as one of their Centipede-enhanced Super Soldiers through the use of the Centipede Serum.
Biography[]
This Centipede Serum infused soldier was a former soldier of the United States Armed Forces. He was recruited into the Centipede Project, a branch of HYDRA, founded by the Clairvoyant. The soldier became equipped with multiple Centipede devices, as well as a Backscatter X-Ray Eye Implant. He was one member of a group of Centipede soldiers who broke Edison Po from the Havenworth Federal Penitentiary.
The Soldier also participated in an ambush on Coulson's Team in Oakland, California, where he fought hand-to-hand with agents Grant Ward and Melinda May. He was soon ordered by Raina to retreat. After the ambush, he accompanied Raina to the foul exchange of Mike Peterson's son for Phil Coulson.[1]
After taking custody of Agent Coulson, he stood guard as Po tried to torture information out of Coulson. He assumed the same duty while Raina exposed Coulson to the Theta Brain-Wave Frequency Machine. The rest of Coulson's team arrived at the scene, and the soldier battled with Agent Ward until he fell victim to the Night-Night Bracelet dendrotoxin. He was later taken into custody by S.H.I.E.L.D.[2]
Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
- Artificially Enhanced Physiology: Due to use of the Centipede Device, a blood-filtering device made of Chitauri metal that delivers a combination of Extremis, gamma radiation, and elements of the Super Soldier Serum into his system, the Soldier has come to possess various superhuman abilities.
- Enhanced Strength: The Centipede Serum gave the Soldier enhanced strength, enough to block a punch from one of the guards at Havenworth Federal Penitentiary and crush his bones. His strength allowed him to fight highly trained S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Grant Ward and Melinda May with ease.
- Enhanced Durability: The soldier gained some degree of durability, being able to withstand unfazed a punch from one of the guards at Havenworth Federal Penitentiary in his face, and Melinda May's kicks during the Ambush at the Oakland Centipede Base.

- Enhanced Agility: The soldier's agility increased to the point he was able to perform complicated martial arts moves to attack Grant Ward and Melinda May despite wearing heavy body armor.
- Enhanced Stamina: The soldier's stamina was considerably increased while the effects of the Centipede Serum lasted, allowing him to be deployed in missions and battle battle Mike Peterson as well as Coulson's Team for a considerable amount of time. However, after each mission, the soldier would feel extremely tired and need regular injections of the serum.
- Enhanced Reflexes: The soldier's agility allowed him to dodge some of Grant Ward's attacks during their fight at the Mojave Desert.
- Enhanced Vision: The soldier was given a Backscatter X-Ray Eye Implant. This allowed him to see through solid objects, but came at a cost. His eye was able to be accessed by Centipede Project members like Raina and Edison Po. If Hayward disobeyed, they could press a button that blows his skull open from his head.
- Regenerative Healing Factor: The Centipede Device allowed the soldier to heal from his injuries very quickly.
