The "Celestial Invader Ego" Universe is an alternate reality where Peter Quill was kidnapped and delivered to his father, Ego, prompting him to use their combined power to invade other planets and start his Expansion.
History[]
World War II[]
The Celestial Ego planted seeds on several planets around the universe, hoping to expand himself into those planets. Meanwhile, Earth experienced its second World War, and Captain America fought in the war alongside Bucky Barnes, although both were considered dead. In the aftermath of the war, allies of the pair, including Howard Stark and Peggy Carter, founded S.H.I.E.L.D. to protect Earth from various threats. Barnes was not dead, however, and was instead brainwashed into becoming an agent named Winter Soldier who was used by the Soviet Union.[1]
Ego's Expansion[]
Kidnapping of Peter Quill[]

Peter Quill meets his father
Ego had a child with Meredith Quill, who she named Peter Quill. When Peter was eight years old, Meredith died because of Ego. That same night, Peter was abducted by the Ravagers. The Ravagers brought Peter to Ego, who told the young boy about his plan and gave him Celestial powers. Peter then went to multiple planets, including Asgard and seven of the Nine Realms, and destroyed them on his father's behalf.
Meanwhile, Janet van Dyne went on a mission with Hank Pym which went wrong, leading van Dyne to be believed dead, upsetting their daughter, Hope van Dyne.[1]
Return to Earth[]

Peter Quill returns to Earth
Peter Quill returned to Earth six months later and started to cause chaos in New York City as the police failed to stop him. S.H.I.E.L.D. learned about Quill's presence, prompting them to assemble a team to stop him. The team consisted of Hank Pym, Bill Foster, T'Chaka, Wendy Lawson, and Winter Soldier, who the Soviet Union had insisted on being included. The team confronted Quill at Coney Island, but he easily defeated them. Thor then suddenly arrived and knocked Quill out.

Peter Quill escapes S.H.I.E.L.D. custody
The Avengers brought Quill and Thor back to S.H.I.E.L.D., where Thor explained that Quill brought destruction to every planet he went and that he wanted to avenge Asgard's destruction. The Avengers debated killing Quill, while Hope van Dyne bonded with him and freed him, allowing him to go to Missouri to see his mother's grave.[1]
Battle of Mojave Desert[]

Hank Pym comforts Peter Quill
Losing patience with Peter Quill, Ego went to Earth to finish his expansion himself. Hank Pym and Wendy Lawson went to find Quill while Winter Soldier tried to kill him and the rest of the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. confronted Ego. While the Avengers fought Ego, Pym approached Quill and comforted him about the death of his mother, convincing Quill to help him fight Ego. Meanwhile, Howard Stark convinced Winter Soldier not to kill Quill.

Peter Quill destroys his father
Ego overwhelmed S.H.I.E.L.D., but Pym and Lawson managed to bring Quill in time. Quill confronted Ego and the two argued, and Ego revealed that he was responsible for Quill's mother's death. This pushed Quill's anger further, giving him the power to destroy his father, preventing the expansion.[1]
Galactic Avengers[]

The Avengers leave to protect the universe
The Avengers celebrated their victory, joined by Peggy Carter, Howard Stark, and Goose, as well as Peter Quill and Hope van Dyne. Thor prepared to leave to continue the fight against Ego, and the rest of the group decided to join him. Meanwhile, Winter Soldier wandered Earth, hoping to regain his identity.[1]
Quill Taken Prisoner[]
Stephen Strange became aware of Quill's immense power and kidnapped him from the Celestial Invader Ego universe, bringing him to the Sanctum Infinitum in hopes of sacrificing him to the Forge to resurrect his own universe. Quill was freed by Captain Carter and nearly dropped into the Forge by Strange, but Carter and Kahhori managed to rescue Quill and the other prisoners. Kahhori then returned Quill to the Celestial Invader Ego universe.[1]

Landmarks[]
Behind the Scenes[]
- The Avengers in this universe were developed around the idea that, in the main universe, Peter Quill and Hope van Dyne both lost their mothers, Meredith Quill and Janet van Dyne, respectively, at around the same time. Everything else on the team was developed from there.[2]
- A version of the Avengers forming in the 1980s was a mandate by Brad Winderbaum.[2]
