The Celestial Armor is the armor donned by Eternals which is created through the energy of Arishem the Judge.
History[]
Creation and Purpose[]
In order to stop the Deviants, Arishem the Judge created the Eternals in the World Forge. He sent many groups of Eternals to many planets across the universe. Along with stopping the Deviants, the Eternals were also tasked with making sure the Emergence happened, which was an event that lead to the destruction of a planet so that many others could be born. However, this ulterior task was only known by the Prime Eternal. To act as protection, Arishem also created armor that could be worn by the Eternals. Ajak in particular led her group of Eternals through countless Emergences.[2] While standing in a select location on the Domo, the Eternals could have their armor materialized onto them through Arishem's energy.[3]
Ajak's Eternals[]
Fighting Deviants[]
In 5000 B.C., Arishem the Judge sent a group of ten Eternals to Earth in order to oversee the Emergence. This group, led by Ajak, rode on the Domo until they reached Mesopotamia. Once there, they stepped on their location and summoned their suits. Immediately following the summoning, Ikaris walked over to Sersi, who was looking off into the new world. They introduced themselves and Ikaris immediately fell in love.
Touching down on Earth, Ikaris, Kingo, Makkari, Gilgamesh, and Thena took charge. As Deviants attacked the Humans, Ikaris shot his optic beams at it before sending it into the air with a punch. Each Eternal then helped out the humans, using their powers to kill many of the deviants. Once done, the other five Eternals, Ajak, Sersi, Sprite, Phastos, and Druig touched down. Druig used his mind control powers to calm down the humans. The Eternals then stood mighty, making their presence known to the world. Ajak then healed Ikaris along with his damaged armor.
The Eternals saved many civilizations from massacres while donning their suits. In Babylon, the Eternals stopped the attacking Deviants while also saving humans. Ikaris grabbed a little girl before shooting his optic beams at the deviant, slicing its leg before Makkari came. They all then attacked a bigger deviant named Enkidu. Using each other's respective powers, they were able to overpower Enkidu before Gilgamesh charged up his fist and punched Enkidu into a wall. Once Enkidu got up, Gilgamesh fiercely slapped the monster, killing it. The story of Gilgamesh and Enkidu went down in history as a tale.
Meanwhile, Ajak met with Arishem and talked about how she felt their mission was not right. She was beginning to love humans and did not want to see them go. Arishem told Ajak to stick to the mission as she had done this many times before. Ajak understood despite wanting to tell the others the truth. She then went in to the Domo and talked to Phastos, who was creating tools for humans to use. They all debated whether or not it was too soon to create certain items like the plow. Later, they attended a party where Ikaris made his first move on Sersi, starting a relationship.[2]
A 500 Year War[]
In Heian-Kyo, Druig and Makkari went to investigate a deviant sighting. The people of the city did not know what a deviant was and referred to it as an Oni, or the Child from the River. Donning their armor, Makkari and Druig were able to locate the Kappa and eventually kill it with the help of Yoshiie Minamoto. Unbeknownst to them, they actually did not kill Kappa. Instead, the deviant lived on having Druig's powers.[4]
Nearly one hundred years later, Sprite and Kingo reported to Korea where they encountered a deviant with magical powers. While the deviant chased Kim Bu-Sik, the Eternals came in to save the day. They fought for a while in their armor before Sprite saw an orb that Kumiho used. She used her powers to sneak up to the deviant and snatched the orb, eventually making Kumiho lose her powers.[5]
In Córdoba, Spain, Phastos and Ajak walked through the city wearing robes over their armor. When a deviant attacked, they ripped off their robes, revealing their armor, which helped them battle the bear-like deviant. With the help of Lope de Fitero, they were able to conclude the attack. However, Ajak grew worried as there seemed to be a pattern growing. The deviants were now attacking them rather than humans.[6]
Nearly three-hundred years later, Thena and Gilgamesh were on a ship with a captain when Gilgamesh was suddenly grabbed and dragged into the water by a deviant that looked like a Kraken. Thena commanded the ship in order to find Gilgamesh. They fought in the water and put up a good battle until the Kraken released ink, allowing it to escape.[7]
Now in Beijing, Sersi and Ikaris led a defense against an attacking deviant. While trying to both preserve the Great Wall of China, as well as humans, the powerful Eternals fought. Eventually a young dragon also joined the fight, losing its life in the process. Angry, Ikaris chased down the deviant and eventually found a cave containing a Deviants Nest.[8] They quickly called in the other Eternals who arrived shortly after. During the battle, they realized that Kappa from Heian-Kyo was mind controlling all of them. Thena then killed Kappa, making the other deviants fall.[9]
Later, the Eternals were packing up to leave Babylon when they found many artifacts from their time in the 500 Year War. There was the Onikirimaru,[10][4] Samguk Sagi Kumiho,[5] a Reconquista Helmet,[6] and the Chimera de Arrezo.[8] Sprite recited the stories for the Eternals who watched and marveled at their work and how they had grown.[9]
Return of the Deviants[]
In 2024, the Eternals reunited admist the death of Ajak at what they believed was a deviant. However, it was actually Ikaris' doing. Losing Gilgamesh along the way, the group finally learned of the truth of their mission. Now Prime Eternal, Sersi, pushed to stop the upcoming Emergence. However, Ikaris, Sprite, and Kingo disagreed. While Kingo left, Ikaris and Sprite chose to fight the other Eternals. Ikaris suited up into his armor before telling Sersi his goal. He then walked in and destroyed Phastos' model for the Uni-Mind. Sprite and Ikaris then flew away to the Emergence Point.
Ikaris and Sprite watched the event until the Domo arrived. While Sersi and Druig stepped out, Ikaris fought Thena in the ship. Ikaris pinned Thena against a wall before she smiled, revealing that the Uni-Mind had started. Ikaris angrily destroyed the Domo. Makkari then ran Phastos and Thena out of the ship. The Eternals clashed while trying to stop the Emergence while another side allowed it. Meanwhile, Thena went into a cave to fight a deviant named Kro, eventually killing him.
Knowing what she had to do, Sersi went into Tiamut the Communicator's palm and decided to turn him into stone. With the power of the Uni-Mind, she started her work until Ikaris arrived to stop her. Giving Sersi a look, Ikaris realized that he could not bring himself to kill Sersi. Instead, he joined the Uni-Mind, giving Sersi enough power to completely turn Tiamut into stone. The power also turned parts of Sersi's armor gold. Ikaris then looked at Sersi, ashamed of what he had done before flying away and into the Sun, killing himself. Back on Earth, the Eternals rejoiced and Sersi used her energy to turn Sprite human.[2]
Eros' Eternals[]
Arriving for Help[]
Arishem the Judge also sent a group of Eternals to Titan. One of them was named Eros and eventually became brothers with Thanos. Eros, going by Starfox, heard of Eternals from Earth being captured. Eros and Pip the Troll were able to find the remaining Eternals in space and offered to help, wearing his armor so they knew he was an Eternal.[2]
Movies[]
The Legend of Icarus[]
While filming the Legend of Icarus, Kingo remade Ikaris' Celestial armor and made himself act as Icarus for his movie.[2]
Capabilities[]
The armor was made of energy from Arishem the Judge[3] and was able to be put on at will as long as the Eternal was in the Domo. The armor was powerful enough to withstand blows from both Deviants and other Eternals. Each Eternal had their own color scheme: Ajak and Ikaris' were blue and gold. However, Ajak did not have the circle design that was present on all others. She also had a headpiece as well as a cape. Phastos and Kingo both were fitted with purple armor. However, Phastos' had gray highlights while Kingo's had gold.
Additionally, Gilgamesh had a green and tan uniform while Thena's was white, but contained a small headdress. Sprite's was turquoise and Druig's was red and black. Makkari's was also red, but with gray. Starfox also had a gray, yellow, and red suit. Finally, Sersi's was green. However, when she contained the power of the Uni-Mind, her armor began to have yellow highlights as well.[2] The females often had long, feminine drapes like gowns. Additionally, combative Eternals like Ikaris, Makkari, Kingo, Gilgamesh, and Thena often had more tough material instead of drapes.[3]
