James Howlett, more commonly referred to as Logan, is a formidable mutant with retractable adamantium claws and regenerative abilities operating under the alias Wolverine, who was dubbed Cavillrine by Deadpool due to being portrayed by Henry Cavill.

Meeting Deadpool[]

Approaching Logan as he was tending to his motorcycle, Deadpool was surprised by his resemblance to Henry Cavill, promising they would treat him better than "those shit-fucks down the street". Unamused, an antagonistic Logan demanded Deadpool leave. When Deadpool refused and tried to explain his arrival, Logan used his claws to strike Deadpool through a pillar and back into the Timedoor from which he entered.[1]

Logan is very ill-tempered, as shown by how he responds to Deadpool's remarks about him causing Logan to violently lash out at Deadpool.

- Mutant Physiology: As a mutant, Cavillrine had enhanced abilities unlike those of a normal human.
- Superhuman Strength: Cavillrine had the ability to easily punch Deadpool through a concrete pillar.[1]
- Regenerative Healing Factor: Cavillrine has a powerful healing factor, which allows his knuckles to instantly heal upon retracting his metal claws.
- Retractable Claws: Logan had a set of retractable adamantium-coated claws in either hand, which he used to stab Deadpool.[1]

- Master Combatant: Cavillrine is an expert in combat, which makes him let out his claws to hit Deadpool in midair.

- When talking to Cavillrine, Deadpool promises "we will treat you so much better than those shit-fucks down the street", referencing Henry Cavill's previous role as Superman in the DC Extended Universe before he was let go from the part by James Gunn and Peter Safran in preparation to the DC Universe.
- Cavillrine unleashes his claws by pumping or "reloading" his arms, mimicking Henry Cavill's character in Mission: Impossible – Fallout, August Walker, doing the same motion in preparation for a fight.[2]
Behind the Scenes[]
- Henry Cavill's casting as Wolverine references the actor's status as a popular fancast for the character, similar to John Krasinski being cast as a Variant of Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic for a brief appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.[3]
- Cavill joked about having shaved his mustache for the role of Cavillrine, referencing a situation during the reshoots of Justice League in which he was contractually obligated not to shave his mustache from Mission: Impossible – Fallout while playing Superman, who does not have a mustache and was therefore digitally removed.[4]
- In the script for Deadpool & Wolverine, Cavillrine is referred to as "Hopperine." This is a reference to David Harbour's character Jim Hopper from Stranger Things, a show that Shawn Levy produced and directed episodes of.
