Castillo San Cristóbal, also known as Fort San Cristóbal, is a fort in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
History
Invasion
Built in 1634, Fort San Cristobal held off the Dutch, the English and the Americans during different invasions. A legend developed that the place was haunted because several of the guards disappeared in the middle of night, never to be seen again.[1]
Finding the City
Phil Coulson and Skye prepped the senior S.H.I.E.L.D. agents aboard the Bus that the city that matched the City Blueprints was found in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Coulson divided the agents into two groups; his group consisting of Bobbi Morse, Alphonso Mackenzie, Leo Fitz, and Jemma Simmons took a Quinjet to the island.
Diego, a contact of Morse's, gave her hand drawn blueprints of the garrison because it was older than San Juan itself. He decided that he was not accompanying them inside because he was afraid of the legend that those who enter do not return. He, however, used his political connections to assure that the local authorities would not interfere with Coulson's desire to destroy the city underneath before HYDRA could use it in combination with the Diviner to create a Weapon of Mass Destruction. Inside the Garrison
Inside the garrison, Alphonso Mackenzie used the Mouse Hole as a cutting laser to create an opening to the hidden city. A shaft one hundred feet down was found and opened. Leo Fitz sent the D.W.A.R.F.s into the hole, but the drones lost their signal. Mack, though afraid of the dark, decided to go down to investigate. Reaching the ground, he found the drones dead. As he picked one up, he noticed something on the ground and moved the dirt. A symbol appeared on the grounds beneath him; a symbol appeared on the palm of his hand. Mack screamed in extreme pain.
Hearing his screams, the others hoist Mack upwards. He told Coulson to run as his eyes turned red, before slapping Coulson across the room. Morse attacked hand-to-hand until she could get to her battle staves; her blows were ineffective against the super-strong mechanic. An I.C.E.R. was used against him to no effect. Fitz, holding a gun, pleaded with his friend to stop his assault, while Coulson kept Simmons from falling into the shaft. While Mackenzie was distracted and approaching Simmons and Coulson, Morse used her staves to electrocute Mack. Stunned, he fell into the hole.
Morse screamed for Coulson to save her friend; Coulson replied that that was not Mack. [1]
