The Capture of Loki was a successful attempt by the Time Variance Authority to arrest Loki and prune the alternate 2012 timeline.

In 2023, members of the Avengers time traveled from their timeline to May 4, 2012, creating an alternate 2012 timeline. Intent on acquiring the Tesseract, Tony Stark noticed it being loaded by his 2012 counterpart. Stark and Scott Lang followed the group to the Stark Tower lobby with Stark disguised as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. However, the 2012 Avengers were stopped by Alexander Pierce, who ordered them to turn Loki and the Tesseract to them, alongside other S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel. The 2012 versions of Stark and Thor began arguing with Pierce until Lang managed to disconnect 2012 Stark's Arc Reactor. Lang kicked the case with the Tesseract over to 2023 Stark as he retrieved the case and told Steve Rogers to meet him outside and grab something to eat. Unfortunately, the 2012 Hulk broke through the door leading to the tower's staircase, causing Stark to drop the case, causing the Tesseract to fall out and slide towards Loki's feet. Seeing this as his opportunity to escape, Loki grabbed the Tesseract and used it to open a wormhole.[3]

Loki transported himself to the Gobi Desert in Mongolia addressing to locals that happened to be at the spot Hunter B-15 and several Minutemen appeared and despite Loki tried to intimidate them, Hunter B-15 used her Time Stick on him, slowing him down to 1/16th of normal speed before arresting him.
B-15 took Loki with her to the Time Variance Authority's headquarters through a Timedoor as the Minutemen activated a Reset Charge to eliminate the alternate 2012 timeline,[4] transferring its contents to the Void.[5]

Loki was brought to the lobby of the Time Variance Authority Office, where he had undergone a series of prisoner checkups and awaited in line for his trial. As Loki made his way into the courtroom, he was introduced by Ravonna Renslayer and asked him how he pleaded. Loki blamed the Avengers for his predicament, though Renslayer denied his accusation and found him guilty. However, Mobius M. Mobius would plead with Renslayer for Loki's freedom, which she allowed on the count that Mobius took responsibility of Loki's actions.[4]
