The Capture of Iron Fist was orchestrated by Mary Walker in order to bring Danny Rand over to Davos who would then use a transference ceremony steal the power of the Iron Fist.

Since Danny Rand abandoned his post as the defender of K'un-Lun, Davos followed him to New York City to get him back, while feeling increasingly bitter of Rand getting the Iron Fist instead of him. As they fought against Bakuto and the Hand, Davos' displeasure with Rand reached its peak as he turned against his brother and made an alliance with Joy Meachum who also felt that her life took a turn to the worse when Rand returned from K'un-Lun. While Davos initially considered killing Rand, he made a decision to perform an ancient ritual and strip him of the Iron Fist, taking it for himself.

Knowing that Rand is a formidable warrior who would not give up on his power easily, Meachum hired Mary Walker and tasked with tracking Rand for a continuous period of time, learning his weak spots and how to subdue him. Davos then started preparations for the ritual, getting the help of the Crane Sisters and requesting Orson Randall to bring in the corpse of the previous Iron Fist to New York. He and Meachum then approached Mika Prada to get Tibetan Singing Bowl from her, for which Davos had to seduce Prada, so Meachum could blackmail her with the footage. At one point, Walker' alter Mary approached Rand in person and even left the photos she made of him at Chikara Dojo, which became a concern to Davos and Meachum.

However, Davos faced issues with Yangsi Gonshi that were supposed to oversee the delivery of the corpse to Red Hook Pier. When Hai-Qing Yang informed Davos that he would be entering peace talks with Golden Tigers and stop the Triad War, he also mentioned that the pier would be unavailable to bring in his shipment and refunded Davos. Davos was frustrated that Yang walked back on his promise, even if for noble cause, and killed him with a Devil's Claw. With Yang dead and the pier being ceased by the Golden Tigers, Davos attended the pier personally and carved the Mark of Shou-Lao from the corpse, killing several triad members in the process. At the time, Rand found out about Davos killing Yang and followed his trail to the docks, where he saw the corpse but he was yet to fully grasp Davos' plans.
