"I'm Peter, but I'm not your Peter."
"What do you mean you're not my Peter? What the hell is going on?"
"I'll explain everything, but first, help me stop this guy."

The Capture of Electro was an attempt by Spider-Man to track down and intercept Electro, who had been transported out of his home universe due to the corrupted Runes of Kof-Kol spell, at a military research facility. Spider-Man was able to apprehend Electro, and also another multiversal visitor, Flint Marko.

Background[]

"I was whoopin' Spider-Man's ass, he'll tell you. And then he caused an overload, I was stuck in the grid, absorbing data. I was about to turn into pure energy and then– And then, uh– And then– Oh, shit. I was about to die."

Mysterio arranged a backup plan for William Ginter Riva and The Daily Bugle to reveal Spider-Man's identity as Peter Parker to the public while framing him for Beck's death in the event he ended up dying as he did during the Battle of London.[2] Parker, as well as Michelle Jones, Ned Leeds, and May Parker, were apprehended by the United States Department of Damage Control, and although Matt Murdock managed to clear Parker from legal issues, he was still subjected to the negative public perception.

Doctor Strange's spell affects the Multiverse

Parker's reputation started to affect people close to him, so in an attempt to fix everything, Parker asked Doctor Strange for help. Strange started casting the Runes of Kof-Kol ritual to make everyone forget that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, however, Parker did not want his friends and family to forget about him. Parker tried to tamper with the spell but it backfired, as the spell damaged the fabric of the Multiverse, making people who knew Spider-Man's identity from other universe, to emerge in theirs.

The trio investigating

On the Alexander Hamilton Bridge, Spider-Man encountered Doctor Octopus and Green Goblin, who were transported while they were in the middle of a fight with their Spider-Man. Strange eventually transported Spider-Man and Octopus to the New York Sanctum, where he kept Octopus and Lizard trapped. Strange explained the situation to Parker and ordered him to find and capture the remaining Multiverse intruders, so Strange could send them back to their universe and avert the crisis. Parker enlisted the help of Michelle Jones and Ned Leeds who managed to trace a suspicious activity at the United States Army installation outside of New York City.[1]

Capture[]

Blue Electro

Electro appears

Spider-Man headed to the woods outside of the city where he encountered Electro who was absorbing the electricity from the power lines. He then attempted to shoot him with the webbing, powered by Doctor Strange's spell, to capture him but since Electro was made of pure electricity, the attack did not hit him. Electro then noticed Spider-Man and fired electric blasts at him, forcing Spider-Man to maneuver through the trees to avoid the attacks. Eventually, Electro managed to corner Spider-Man and hit him with the blast, cutting his communications with Michelle Jones and Ned Leeds.

Sandman protects Spider-Man from Electro

Before Electro could finish Spider-Man, he was rescued by Sandman who also mistook him for the Peter Parker he knew. Sandman built a wall to protect him from the electricity before Spider-Man asked him for help to take Electro down. While Sandman summoned a sandstorm to distract Electro, Spider-Man effectively cut the power lines, neutralizing Electro. With Electro now being rendered powerless, Spider-Man teleported him to the New York Sanctum to be trapped in the undercroft. Sandman was confused at where did Electro went after Spider-Man attacked him and due to his mistrust, he assumed that Spider-Man could have killed him. He then prepared to turn against Spider-Man, but he quickly teleported Sandman to the Sanctum's undercroft as well.[1]

Aftermath[]

"There should be an electric guy and a sand guy."
"Yeah. They're all here and locked up."
"Perfect. I'm gonna just stay here for a bit, and try to fix this damage so they don't blame it on me again."
Spider-Man and Michelle Jones[src]

Spider-Man spent the rest of the night fixing the damaged power lines[1] while electrical grid supervisor Walter Burke called The Daily Bugle to give his firsthand account of the fight. Although J. Jonah Jameson attempted to use the incident as evidence of Spider-Man being a menace for destroying power lines, Burke stated that Spider-Man had done it to defeat the "power monster" with the help of the "dirt guy", Jameson hurriedly ended the conversation.[3]

Power Lines Repaired

Spider-Man repairs some of the damage he caused

Spider-Man found Norman Osborn at the F.E.A.S.T. Community Center where he was asking him and May Parker for help. May convinced Parker that Osborn and other intruders are troubled people who needed his help, although Parker was not sure about taking such a burden and believed Strange knows best. When Parker brought Osborn to the New York Sanctum, he found out that most of the intruders he encountered were destined to die in the battle with their universes' Spider-Man.

Doctor Strange, who had managed to contain the Runes of Kof-Kol in the Macchina di Kadavus, prepared for a ritual to revert the spell and transport the intruders back to their universes. Parker realized that it would mean a death sentence for most of them, so he made a decision to stop Strange and help them to become better people, so they would survive. Spider-Man then stole the Macchina and fought Strange up until trapping him in the Mirror Dimension, and took the intruders to Happy Hogan's Condominium to examine their conditions and find a way to help them.[1]
