In February 2019, even before the official release of Captain Marvel, Brie Larson revealed that they were already talks for a sequel. She also expressed her interest to see Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel in that sequel.[2]
In March 2019, Kevin Feige mentioned that they had "pretty amazing" ideas for a potential sequel to Captain Marvel.[3] He later revealed that the sequel may be set in the past, and explore the time gap between the end of the first film and Captain Marvel's appearance in Avengers: Endgame.[4]
On July 20, 2019, at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Kevin Feige confirmed that the sequel to Captain Marvel was officially in development.[1]
