- The original title of Captain America: New World Order was the same title as the first episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

- The film's storyline adapts some ellements of the 1974 "Secret Empire" story arc, where Captain America contends with the President of the United States and has to fight fellow Americans,[1] and Donny Cates' Hulk storyline "Smashtronaut" where Thaddeus Ross becomes President and uses gamma technology for American interests.[2]
- Interestingly, the film shares a subtitle with a miniseries tie-in to the 2017 version of "Secret Empire."
- Characters from the movie adapted from the comics are Ruth Bat-Seraph, Leila Taylor, Seth Voelker/Sidewinder, Davis Lawfers/Copperhead and Dennis Dunphy.
