Edwin Jarvis' Dishonorable Discharge
As World War II began, Ana's safety was endangered given she was Jewish, and Jarvis asked the general to use one of the several letters of transit he carried in his safe to ensure her safety, but he refused to sign. Jarvis had to forge the general's signature, for which he was arrested in London and dishonorably discharged from the Army.
Arriving at the direction Fury obtained, Escobar went to find the briefcase while Fury fought against Verliecki. Fury defeated Verliecki, but Escobar betrayed him, holding him at gunpoint in order to sell the case to the Soviets. Fury seized an opportunity as Escobar was explaining his plans for the money to catch him off-guard. They both struggled, and Escobar was able to hold Fury at gunpoint again, only to be knocked out by Verliecki, who turned out to be one of Fury's contacts.
It turned out that the whole mission was orchestrated to discover Escobar's true affiliation and turn him out as a mole; the case was actually filled with cigars. Escobar was given a CIA identification with his photograph, but Nick Fury's name written on it, to be framed of Fury's previous actions in Soviet territory.
The Soviet authorities, attracted by the gunshots, found Escobar unconscious and tied to a chair by Verliecki, while Fury contacted Dum Dum Dugan and informed him about the outcome of the mission. Fury asked Dugan to wait for him to begin the celebration, as he was going to bring the cigars.
- In the PSP and Wii versions of the non-canon video game Iron Man 2, Pepper Potts travels to Budapest for a conference and is captured by A.I.M. forces. Iron Man and War Machine travel there and rescue her. As Stark brings her to safety, Rhodes is attacked by the mercenary Firepower, who has been hired and sent after them by Kearson DeWitt. Rhodes battles Firepower and defeats him.
