Brandt was one of the patrons of Project Rebirth, working with Colonel Chester Phillips of the Strategic Scientific Reserve and Doctor Abraham Erskine.
The day of the test, Brandt attended the event alongside military officers, including Colonel John Flynn, Colonel Chester Phillips and Allied agent Peggy Carter.
However, as Erskine explained how the Super Soldier Serum test subject would be subjected to Vita Radiation to avoid him from suffering an uncontrollable growth, the German assassin Heinz Kruger detonated a bomb near the experiment's platform, killing Erskine and some scientists of his.[1]
