- "None more prolific than the Bloodstone family, whose patriarch has long controlled the powerful supernatural relic, the Bloodstone, a weapon unlike any other."
- ―Narrator[src]
The Bloodstone (Latin: lapis e sangius) is an ancient supernatural red gem passed down through the Bloodstone family for generations.
History[]
Crusade Against Monsters[]
Used by Ulysses[]
Among hundreds of years, monster hunters continued their Crusade Against Monsters by killing any that they could. Some of these hunters, mainly ones of Bloodstone descent used a powerful gem known as the Bloodstone. This gem was used by Ulysses Bloodstone and others to kill monsters like a sasquatch, mermaid, and even vampires. However, by 2025, Ulysses had died, leaving the gem in the place of a new master. As his daughter, Elsa had left the family, he decided to create a contest with many hunters in order to choose the new wielder.[1]
Attatched to Ted Sallis[]
- "If you're not a hunter, why do you want the stone?"
"I don't. That's not the reason why I'm here. You know, maybe we can help each other. If you help me get the monster out of here alive, I can get you the stone." - ―Elsa Bloodstone and Jack Russell[src]
During the night of the contest, the bloodstone was placed in a display for all to see. As Verussa Bloodstone explained the hunt, with the help of a puppeteered Ulysses, the bloodstone was brought to a maze outside of the temple. As hunters, Joshua Jovan, Liorn, Barasso, Azarel, Jack Russell, and Elsa Bloodstone stood outside, the Bloodstone was carefully placed on the monster known as Man-Thing in order to weaken it. Whoever were to slay the monster would become the bloodstone's new owner.
The group went in, unbeknownst to everyone, Russell was actually a werewolf seeking to save his friend Man-Thing, also known as Ted Sallis. Man-Thing hid in a bush until Russell arrived. Seeing his friend, Sallis reached out and grabbed Russell, who was happy to see his friend as well. Russell realized how the gem was hurting Man-Thing and told him he would help. However, Russell was driven away by Azarel, who found him. Eventually, Elsa Bloodstone came to his aid as she had a deal with Russell. Elsa led Man-Thing to the exit and used a grappling hook to pull the Bloodstone of so that Sallis could escape into the night.[1]
Awakening a Monster[]
- "You don't get it, mate. Why do you think they put me in here with you? Five days? The Bloodstone's capable of transforming you in five seconds."
- ―Elsa Bloodstone to Jack Russell[src]
With his work finished, Jack Russell went to grab the stone in order to give it to Elsa Bloodstone. However, the gem let out a power surge, wiping Russell off his feet, revealing to the rest that he was a monster among them. Russell woke up from being tazed in a cage with Elsa. Suddenly, Verussa Bloodstone walked in with her allies and attempted to use the Bloodstone to awaken the monster inside Russell to kill him. Russell warned them that they would be in danger if they proceeded with their plan, but Verussa did not care.
Verussa shot a beam at Russell, steadily transforming him into a werewolf as she laughed maniacally. Meanwhile, Elsa lunged to the side of the cage in fear of Russell. With the Bloodstone doing its job, Russell was transformed, but escaped. He led a massacre of the people as he mowed through them easily. Seeing the threat she took for granted, Verussa blasted Russell with the Bloodstone to knock him back. This worked repeatedly until Verussa was knocked out by Elsa. Her daughter then grabbed the Bloodstone, putting it in her pocket before going over to Russell. The werewolf pounced on Elsa, who decided not to use the stone. Russell soon recognized Elsa and ran away into the night. Elsa soon sat down with the Bloodstone in hand as its new owner.[1]
