On January 10, 2023, in an interview with Variety, Letitia Wright revealed that the film was in development.[4]
On November 12, 2024, in an interview with Today Australia, Denzel Washington revealed that Ryan Coogler was writing a part for him in the film, reiterating its development.[3]
On December 17, 2024, Marvel Studios confirmed that the film was officially in development with Nate Moore as producer.[1]
On December 10, 2025, in an interview with The New York Times, Ryan Coogler revealed that the film is expected to be released in 2028.[2]
