  • When Namora offers Shuri some clothes, Riri Williams remarks at how that trope is present in many movies. Shuri responds that Williams should see what she had to wear at Warrior Falls, which is a callback to Shuri's joke in Black Panther where she acts like she is challenging for the throne, but just complains about her corset.

References to Marvel Comics[]

  • In the comics, Namor and the rest of his kingdom are Atlanteans. However, in the film, they are Talokanil. This was done to avoid similarities with Aquaman in the DCEU.
  • The Midnight Angel Armor closely resembles the Dora Milaje's current uniform in the comics.
  • When analyzing Namor, Shuri claims him to be as strong as the Hulk, a clear nod to Hulk and Namor's frequent fights in the comics.
  • During his final confrontation with Shuri, Namor says "Imperious Rex" in Yucatec, which in the comics is his main battle cry.

Unorganized Trivia[]

  • According to Ryan Coogler, the original script was different from the released script as it was written before the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman. It would have followed T'Challa, who was struggling after a five-year absence due to the Blip. T'Challa II would have been shown earlier in the film as T'Challa struggled to cope with the fact that he missed five years of his son's life. Additionally, Namor was still supposed to be the villain.[1]
  • In the subtitles of the movie, different languages are displayed in different colors. Yucatec-Mayan is in blue, Xhosa is in yellow, and Spanish is in white.
  • On the Megalodon jaws featured on Namor's throne, the phrase "This Jade Tooth Bites" is engraved.[2]
