Beto was a Skrull refugee who settled on Earth before eventually joining the Skrull Resistance. However, after the ruthless murder of fellow member Pagon by their leader, Gravik, he was among those who attempted to kill Gravik to avenge Pagon, but lost his life as a result.
Biography[]
Finding a Home[]
Reaching New Skrullos[]
Beto faced challenges as a Skrull living on Earth, so he decided to go to New Skrullos in Russia, where Gravik was establishing a home for the Skrulls. He was greeted by G'iah, who checked to ensure he was a Skrull before letting him in. In the car, Beto introduced himself to G'iah, who offered him Skrull food and told him that they only had Skrull food. Beto ate the food and thanked G'iah.
Once they reached the main part of the base, where she guided Beto through and told him that Gravik provided refuge for Skrulls and that only warriors left the base. They reached a heavily guarded room, and G'iah told him to wait for someone to guide him to his room. Beto asked what was in the room, but G'iah simply said it was victory.
Later that day, Beto and G'iah talked in the base's cafeteria, but G'iah was pulled away by Pagon who tasked her to retrieve some dirty bombs.[3]
Secret Invasion[]
Rescue of Brogan[]
Beto was recruited to assist in rescuing Brogan, who had been arrested for his involvement in the Bombing of Vossoyedineniye Square. At the FSB site where Brogan was, Beto was told to wait in the car with G'iah while Gravik and Pagon went inside to rescue Brogan. As they waited, G'iah told Beto that she was going to check the back. Beto offered to join, but G'iah told him to stay in case Gravik and Pagon returned before leaving. G'iah later returned, as did Gravik and Pagon with Brogan. However, as the Skrulls retreated to their safe house, they found the authorities investigating it. Beto wondered how they could have found it while Gravik suspected that Brogan was responsible. G'iah drove into the woods, where Brogan was brought out of the car and killed.[4]

- "Do you think it'll work? I mean, uh... Bringing chaos?"
"Why did you join the resistance, Beto?"
"Um... I did not want our people to keep running." - ―Beto and Pagon[src]
Beto was assigned to infiltrate the Royal Navy with the goal of launching a missile at UN-1. As they prepared for the mission, Beto asked if the plan to destabilize the world would work, so Pagon reminded Beto of their faith in the future of the Skrulls. Pagon said that faith was built on risk, so Beto agreed to take the risk. Pagon then handed out files for the people which the Skrulls would be impersonating, giving Beto the file for Thom Phipps. The three then left for their mission. As they reached HMNB Clyde, the Skrulls shapeshifted into their targets and attacked the base, infiltrating its ranks. However, the attack was prevented by Talos posing as Bob Fairbanks and ordering it to be aborted.[1]
Ambush on President Ritson[]
Beto helped the Skrulls prepare for their ambush on President James Ritson.[5] Ritson was rushed to the hospital rather than killed, and the surviving Skrulls returned to New Skrullos together. Beto entered and saw Gravik order Kreega to assemble the Skrulls' operatives. Beto watched Gravik intensely as he walked away. At the meeting, Beto watched as Pagon started to question his trust in Gravik, but Gravik killed him. Beto watched in horror as Gravik declared the operatives to be faceless and nameless soldiers. Gravik ordered Varra's execution, and the rest of the Skrulls left as Beto looked down at Pagon's body, horrified.[2]
Attack on Gravik[]
The Skrulls formed a plan to attack Gravik and kill him, with Beto serving as a distraction. Beto asked Gravik about Pagon, but Gravik simply claimed that Pagon had failed the Skrulls before realizing that Beto was scared, which Beto confessed was true. Gravik accepted a phone call from Raava, and the Skrulls attacked. Beto threw a plastic bag over his head, but Gravik threw Beto to the side. Beto recovered and worked with several Skrulls to pin Gravik down while Beto suffocated him, but Gravik overpowered the Skrulls holding him down. Zirksu attempted to stab Gravik, but Gravik killed Zirksu before standing up and punching Beto to the ground.
As Beto struggled to right himself, Gravik approached him and threw him out the window. Beto tried to crawl away, but Gravik grabbed him by his jacket. Beto called Gravik a monster, prompting Gravik to slit his throat, killing him.[2]
Personality[]
Beto was an idealistic individual who firmly believed in the Skrull Resistance's cause - to take over Earth so that the Skrulls hiding there could live with their own natural appearance, having no need to hide anymore. Due to this faith, he reached New Skrullos and joined the Resistance, assisting Gravik and Pagon in many missions, including the rescue and subsequent execution of Brogan and the attacks on UN-1 and President James Ritson. He is initially loyal to Gravik, seeing him as a leader who would bring them a better future.
However, after seeing Pagon get executed immediately by Gravik because Pagon questioned Gravik’s leadership, Beto became disillusioned with Gravik. Realising that Gravik was willing to sacrifice anyone and simply viewed his subordinates as disposable pawns, Beto came to the conclusion that Gravik was not a leader who will bring Skrulls to their promised future, but instead had already become a monster who only cared about himself. Thus, Beto and a few disillusioned Resistance members decided to start a mutiny and attempted to kill Gravik, reflecting that Beto was a brave individual who fought for a noble cause and a future worth hoping for and was not afraid to do what was right for the betterment of his race. This failed mutiny attempt also showed that not all Skrull Resistance members were radical aggressors, and some Skrulls like Beto were idealistic fighters. However, they underestimated Gravik's enhanced powers and eventually were all killed by an enraged Gravik.
