Ben Parker grew up with his brother Richard, who soon married a woman named Mary. Ben eventually worked in a workshop for soldering, and he met and married a woman named May. Following the death of her sister-in-law and the imprisonment of his brother, he and May were forced to take care of their nephew Peter. Ben and Peter bonded to the point where Peter always trusted him, and the pair went to Coney Island, where he got sunburned. As Peter was growing up, Ben imparted to him many lessons. Ben also loved photography, using his camera to take many pictures of both May and Peter as they grew up. [4][5][6][7][8]

Death[]

"When I was dying, what gave me comfort was how proud May and I are of the man you're becoming."
―Ben Parker to Spider-Man[src]

Ben Parker ended up being hospitalized, being visited by his family several times until his death.[1]

Legacy[]

"I was scared too, you know. When it became just you and me. I mean, I thought Ben would be here to help me."
"May, it's okay. You have been more than enough."
"No, Peter, I love you, and I'm here for you. But... But you're growin' up, and... I know Ben could have been your role model."
May Parker and Peter Parker[src]

Ben Parker's hospitalization left a profound effect on his family both emotionally and economically. Peter Parker later said that their time in the hospital had been enough after collapsing from a spider bite being the reason why he avoid going to the hospital. Although, May said that she felt Ben would feel awful if he had anything to do with him not taking care of himself.[1]

The death of Ben also leaves a profound impact on May, which makes her worry about the thought of taking care of Peter alone, knowing that if Ben were still alive, he could continue to be his role model.[8]

Ben's words were later remembered by May and Peter, which inspired Peter to resume his heroics as Spider-Man following his defeat by the Enforcers.[9]
