Behemoth was a bird who was genetically enhanced and evolved into a Hell Spawn by High Evolutionary, operating as an Arête Laboratories enforcer. Commanded to eliminate inhabitants on Knowhere, Behemoth was crushed to death by Cosmo.

Biography[]

This section requires expansion

A bird was stolen from Earth by High Evolutionary, who planned on turning him into a perfect specimen. However, he instead opted to turn the bird into a weaponized Hell Spawn, naming him Behemoth. Afterwards, he and a fellow Hell Spawn, War Pig, accompanied High Evolutionary as bodyguards as he was talking to Ayesha and Adam Warlock.[1]

Battle of Counter-Earth[]

When the Guardians of the Galaxy arrived on Counter-Earth to confront High Evolutionary, Behemoth and War Pig guarded the entrance of Arête Laboratories. Eventually, the two Hell Spawn were met with Star-Lord, Groot, and Nebula, immediately, Behemoth used his scanner to identify Nebula's arm as a weapon and demanded that Quill and Groot keep her out, after War Pig cleared them.

This section needs a rewrite

Behemoth personally escorted Quill and Groot to High Evolutionary and stayed beside as they talked. When the discussion led to High Evolutionary to order the destruction of Counter-Earth, Behemoth and High Evolutionary left while Quill and Groot fought their way out; however, Nebula, Mantis, and Drax the Destroyer were captured when they tried to break in to save them, with High Evolutionary offering to spare them in return for Rocket.[1]

Attack on Arête Laboratories[]

"A dog?"
"Yeah. She... is a good dog."
―Behemoth and Kraglin Obfonteri[src]

As Arête Laboratories was piloted to a new colony for High Evolutionary to raise his new attempt at a perfect species, the Star Children on, the Guardians of the Galaxy used their ship the Bowie to ambush the Laboratory while distracting them with the help of their friends on the now-mobile planet, Knowhere. Wanting to eliminate the Guardians for their new slight against him, High Evolutionary forcefully unleashed two groups of Hell Spawn. Behemoth led a group to attack Knowhere and its inhabitants while, the other group stayed to fight off the Guardians.

Kraglin & Cosmo v Behemoth

Behemoth is confronted by Kraglin Obfonteri and Cosmo

During the ambush, Behemoth and the other Hell Spawn were able to open a crack on Knowhere's surface, allowing them to invade the planet. However, as Behemoth and the Hell Spawn attack the citizens, Kraglin Obfonteri, who had learned how to use the Yaka Arrow began to use it to kill multiple Hell Spawn. Fortunately, when Obfonteri tried to use the Arrow to kill Behemoth, he was able to dodge the Arrow, causing it to lodge itself into a wall, which Obfonteri could not easily summon it out. With the Arrow gone, Behemoth began to fly to kill Kraglin, when Cosmo jumped out to guard him, causing Behemoth to stop. Amused by a dog standing up to him, Behemoth laughed at Cosmo, but Obfonteri explained that she was a good dog, allowing Cosmo to use her telekinesis powers to lift to giant slabs and slam them onto Behemoth, killing him instantly.[1]

Personality[]

Powers[]

  • Hell Spawn Physiology: Behemoth is a biconically enhanced bird evolved into a Hell Spawn due to OrgoCorp's experimentations. His enhancements include a cybernetic skeletal structure, and a genetically augmented cerebral cortex.
    • Superhuman Strength: Due to his augmentations, Behemoth can lift substantially more heavy items than many species throughout the Galaxy. With the help of other Hell Spawn, Behemoth was able to make a crack in Knowhere's skull to invade during the Attack on Arête Laboratories.
    • Superhuman Durability: Because of his augmentations, Behemoth can take more attacks from outside sources. Despite this, Behemoth was still killed by Cosmo crushing him with two giant boulders with her Telekinesis.
    • Flight: Because of his lower body being made of cybernetics, Behemoth was able to use the cybernetics' thrusters to fly.
    • Self-Sustenance: Behemoth is capable of surviving in space without any space suit.
