The Battle on Sovereign was a confrontation between the Guardians of the Galaxy, who had been previously hired by the Sovereign's High Priestess Ayesha, and the Abilisk.
Background
After becoming known across the galaxy, the Guardians of the Galaxy were hired by Ayesha to kill the Abilisk. The Abilisk had been eating the Sovereign's Anulax Batteries which are valuable to the Sovereign. The Sovereign had captured Nebula and used her a payment for the Guardians who wanted to imprison her for her crimes.

The Guardians of the Galaxy fight the Abilisk
When the Abilisk arrived, the Guardians of the Galaxy got ready to fight as Groot plugged in Star-Lord's music and began dancing while the rest were thrown around by the Abilisk. The Guardians flew around the Abilisk and fired at it but all of there attacks didn't work. Drax then stated to Gamora that he thought that the Abilisk has to be cut through on the inside and proceeded to jump into its mouth. Star-Lord then came up with a real plan to shoot the cut on its neck.
Star-Lord and Rocket distracted it by flying above it to give Gamora a shot at its neck. Gamora ran out of ammo so she got out her sword and cut through the Abilisk's neck killing it and releasing Drax.
Aftermath
After the battle, the Guardians met with Ayesha who paid them with Nebula who they had captured. Ayesha then started talking about Quill's parentage which he was unaware of who his father was at the time. As the Guardians left, Rocket revealed to Drax that he had stolen some batteries.
As the Guardians were leaving Sovereign, a fleet of Sovereign drones approached the Guardians and began firing at them due to Rocket stealing from them. A battle then commenced between the two leading to all of their fleet to be destroyed by Ego and the Guardians crashing on Berhert.
