The Battle of Xandar was an offensive by Ronan the Accuser to destroy Xandar.

Battle

Ronan the Accuser led his forces to Xandar and attacked the planet in an attempt to destroy it. However, the planet was defended by an alliance of the Nova Corps, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and the Ravagers, who were able to prevent Ronan from destroying the planet. However, this was not without sacrifice, as Denarian Garthan Saal and Groot sacrificed themselves in the process. The battle ultimately ended when Peter Quill challenged Ronan to a dance off, distracting him for long enough that Rocket Raccoon could destroy Ronan's Universal Weapon and enabling Ronan to be defeated.
