The Battle of New York was a conflict in which the Avengers stopped Loki and his invading Chitauri army. The Avengers consisted of its leader Captain Carter, Black Widow, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Thor, and Wasp. Since Loki was stationed atop Stark Tower, Captain Carter and Black Widow caught rides on Chitauri Chariots and confronted the Asgardian, defeating him and halting the Chitauri Invasion.

Captain Carter emerges from the wormhole
When Captain Carter sacrificed herself to end World War II, she disappeared into a wormhole and emerged nearly 70 years later in the Joint Dark Energy Mission Facility. Carter was met with S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives Nick Fury and Clint Barton,[2] leading to her joining the agency. During her tenure, she met and became close friends with Black Widow.[3]
The Asgardian Loki assembled the Chitauri and planned a massive invasion of Earth.[1]

Captain Carter and Black Widow do battle

Loki and the Chitauri arrived in New York City through a wormhole opened by the Scepter and began the invasion. In response, the Avengers assembled and fought back. Captain Carter and Black Widow shared fighting moves while Hawkeye, Iron Man, Wasp, and Thor took out soldiers on their own.
Captain Carter gives the team instructions
The team regrouped on a bridge, and Black Widow asked Captain Carter what the plan was. Captain Carter told Hawkeye and Wasp that she wanted eyes in the sky before ordering Iron Man and Thor to keep the fighting at the ground level. Finally, she asked Black Widow if she wanted to go for a ride. Captain Carter angled her shield upward and gave Black Widow a boost off of it. Black Widow then grabbed onto a Chitauri Chariot.

Determined, Captain Carter leaped off the bridge and caught her own chariot ride. The duo reunited at the top of Stark Tower, where Loki was watching more of the Chitauri army exit the wormhole. Captain Carter suggested that she went low while Black Widow went high. However, Black Widow replied that they should just punch him a lot, and Captain Carter agreed. The two women then leaped at Loki and delivered two stunning punches, defeating him.[1]
Aftermath[]
With Loki defeated and taken into S.H.I.E.L.D. custody, the Chitauri Invasion was stopped.[1]
