- "We do what the master teaches. Weakness must be cast aside for the sake of power. Our vessel is doomed, so let us use its doom. To take out the target... that G'rek Carriership... we must set the ship to self-destruct and eject."
- ―Gamora to Nebula[src]
The Battle at the Orex II Gravity Well was a piloting training exercise for Nebula and Gamora.
Background[]
Nebula and Gamora were both adopted by Thanos, who took them from their homeworlds. He soon led them into intense training regimes to make them the most fiercest warriors in the galaxy. Allying with Ronan the Accuser, Thanos sent them to Dervani to see who could retrieve the Data Ingot first. Although Nebula was able to defeat Gamora, the latter tricked Nebula and threw her off of the cliff. Nebula was placed in a Healing Tank where many of her limbs were replaced with cybernetics.[1]
Battle[]
- "The G'rek Raiders are all over us! We're taking serious hits! The shields won't hold!"
- ―Nebula[src]
Placed on another training mission together, Nebula and Gamora were tasked with destroying the G'rek Carriership. Nebula struggled to fly through the G'rek Raiders, causing their ship to become heavily damaged under fire. Gamora brought up that they should use their advantages. The two decided to set their ship to self-destruction and ejected themselves while wearing Universal Survival Suits. They successfully destroyed the ship and floated in space until the Dark Aster picked them up. They were placed in Healing Tanks where more bodyparts were replaced with cybernetics, including Nebula's eye.[1]
Aftermath[]
Nebula in the Laser-Thorn Energy Net
- "And we live. We stop falling for a moment and we live. Me and Gamora. The Dark Aster picks us up and repairs us."
- ―Nebula[src]
Believing the Orb to be on Praxius IX, Thanos sent Korath the Pursuer and Nebula to the Cloud Tombs of Praxius to retrieve it. During the battle, Nebula started falling and remembered both the Duel on Dervani and the Battle at the Orex II Gravity Well where she fell in both scenarios. Nebula eventually found out that the Orb was not there and got caught in a Laser-Thorn Energy Net. None other than Gamora saved her and gave Nebula a sword to escape the net, despite Thanos wanting to leave her for dead.[1]
