"You think everything bad you felt in there came from me? That was all you. You know you're worth nothin'. You know you have no one."
"Then I was wrong. I have one person."
"I came to that same conclusion."
D'Spayre and Dagger

B Sides is the sixth episode of the second season of the television series Cloak & Dagger.

Synopsis[]

In her quest to bring down the sex trafficking ring, Tandy finds herself in a difficult and strange situation. Not sure what is going to happen, she always has Tyrone to lean on, no matter what the circumstance.

Plot[]

B Sides 8

Using his powers of manipulation of the Dark Dimension energy, D'Spayre explores Tandy Bowen's memories and wishes. The first vision he explores depicts a perfect life for Tandy: a life where her father Nathan and Tyrone Johnson's brother Billy survived, and Tandy and Bowen became best friends with their family happy. In this vision, Johnson becomes a NOPD officer under mentorship from James Connors. However, when they go together to a store, Tandy and Tyrone face racist comments, which escalates in an armed confrontation at the climax of which Tyrone and Tandy discover their Darkforce and Lightforce-based powers.

In another vision, Tandy has become an engineer for Roxxon Corporation after her father left her and her mother. She goes to the Roxxon Gulf Platform, where Tyrone Johnson works as a Roxxon employee, and meets with Mina Hess, who is the harsh supervisor of the platform. Tandy inspects the platform after receiving alarming reports, but cannot stop the meltdown of the rig. Once again, the Lightforce and Darkforce manifest as Tandy and Tyrone touch each other. The apparition of a Lightforce dagger in the vision causes the still unconscious Tandy to create one in the real world, but Lia Dewan injects her with a tranquilizing agent, causing the dagger to disappear.

D'Spayre explores a third vision. In this one, Tandy is a drug addict who lives alone and tries to survive in the street by stealing money from pedestrians. She steals Liam Walsh's wallet, but is forced to flee from the police. Noticing Tyrone stealing a car, she joins him and they drive away. Tandy grows progressively aware of her real-world situation in the ambulance, realizing in the vision that she knows the names of Tyrone and Mikayla Bell. She manifests two other daggers and nearly awakens, but is once again stopped by D'Spayre who keeps her unconscious.

The latest vision is restarted, but does not go the same way. Tandy once again meets Walsh, but runs away after creating a Lightforce dagger, and suddenly arrives in the oil rig of the second vision where an angry Hess accuses her of having caused the meltdown. Chasing down the apparitions of D'Spayre in her visions, she returns into the house of the first vision and engages in an argument with Nathan. The tension brings her to the record store held by D'Spayre in the Dark Dimension.

B SidesDarkDimension

Tandy is able to confront D'Spayre, understanding that he manipulates the despair of others, especially helpless women, and uses it to ease his migraines, a power he got on the same night than Tandy. Using a Lightforce dagger, Tandy is able to break D'Spayre's music player and finally regains consciousness in a now empty and stopped ambulance. She returns to St. Theresa's Church where she is reunited with Tyrone, and they alert Brigid O'Reilly about D'Spayre's actions. Tandy and Tyrone go to confront D'Spayre, and although he tries to defend himself by having Dewan take Bell hostage, they seemingly defeat him after rescuing Bell.

However, the whole scene turned out to be another of D'Spayre's manipulations. In this new vision, D'Spayre shoots and kills Tyrone, causing her to lose all hope as she thinks that she is worthless without Tyrone by her side. This put her entirely at the mercy of D'Spayre, who plans on forcing her into taking part in his human trafficking ring at the Viking Motel, where the ambulance has just arrived.
