- "I've been trying to figure out why Sibyl would attack the base. There have to be better ways to take out S.H.I.E.L.D., especially if you know which threads to pull."
"Unless she no longer has the tools."
"Which means the Time Stream must be here on the base." - ―Phil Coulson and Alphonso Mackenzie[src]
The Attack on the Lighthouse was an invasion orchestrated by Sibyl to recover the Time Stream she uses to predict the future, leading to a confrontation with the Deke Squad.
Background[]
- "Coulson's found evidence that Sibyl slipped into the River's End power supply."
"I've been monitoring the local grid. Every time there's a power surge, more of these appear."
"So, you think she's reaching out. Any idea what for?"
"I think Sibyl's building new Hunters." - ―Deke Shaw, Phil Coulson, and Alphonso Mackenzie[src]
Alphonso Mackenzie and Deke Shaw began getting used to being abandoned in 1982 by Zephyr One, and Shaw began organizing his own S.H.I.E.L.D. team called Deke Squad, which operated out of the Lighthouse. As the team formed, Mackenzie moved into his childhood home, processing his emotions regarding his parents' death.
Meanwhile, Sibyl contacted Russell Feldman and instructed him on how to build robots for her, allowing her to take the robot. Sibyl began building other robots, and killed Feldman when he found out. They set out to look for the Time Stream, which Sibyl could use to predict the future.[1]
Attack[]
- "During my last encounter with S.H.I.E.L.D., your Agent Coulson managed to catch me by surprise."
"Sibyl."
"This time, I've made the necessary preparations." - ―Sibyl and Alphonso Mackenzie[src]
Sibyl and her other robots entered the Lighthouse through a sewer grate. One of the robots was found by Cricket, and member of Deke Squad who was not also a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, and his girlfriend, Tawni. Cricket made fun of the robot, upsetting it, so the robot killed Cricket. Tawni rushed to tell the rest of Deke Squad, and found Deke Shaw, Olga Pachinko, Ronnie Chang, and Tommy Chang. However, the other robot killed Tawni before she could finish telling them what was wrong. Meanwhile, Alphonso Mackenzie and Roxy Glass came across another robot and hid from it. Mackenzie decided that he would fight against the robots, rather than sulk about his parents' death.
Pachinko was injured by the robot that was attacking her, but Mackenzie and Glass managed to break it. Shaw and Mackenzie resolved an argument the two had entered, and the team discussed Sibyl's plan to steal the time stream, which Phil Coulson had deduced, as one of the robots found the time stream. The team worked together to destroy a robot, and Sibyl approached and began taunting them. Sibyl shot Pachinko with her laser, injuring her. Out of fear of lasers, Ronnie and Tommy Chang fled.
Following Mackenzie's plan, Shaw approached Sibyl and began distracting her, while Glass threw a live explosive at Sibyl and Mackenzie shot the explosive with his Shotgun-Axe, causing Sibyl to explode.[1]
Aftermath[]
- "You now have the one tool necessary to control your world's future."
"Well, lucky me." - ―Sibyl and Nathaniel Malick[src]
Deke Squad celebrated their victory, and Ronnie and Tommy Chang were welcomed back into S.H.I.E.L.D. by Deke Shaw. The team became more unified, and continued to serve as S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.
One of the Sibyl-Bots escaped the Lighthouse with the Time Stream, and brought it to Nathaniel Malick, who had been contacted by Sibyl. Sibyl promised Malick the ability to control the world's future.[1] Malick used the knowledge gained from the time stream to attack Afterlife.[2]
