The Attack on Lincoln Campbell was an attempt by Lash to kill Lincoln Campbell in his quest to eradicate Inhumans.

Lincoln Campbell studied medicine in Cincinnati at the Cincinnati Memorial Hospital in hopes of being a doctor. Since Afterlife was abandoned during Jiaying's Vendetta, Campbell returned to his studies and began work in a hospital; he was discouraged from being around other Inhumans after he witnessed the actions of Jiaying during the War. Though he had helped S.H.I.E.L.D., he chose to live a "normal" life.

Joey Gutierrez went through Terrigenesis and was having difficulty in controlling his powers; Agents Lance Hunter, Alphonso Mackenzie, and Daisy Johnson retrieved him from Seattle before the new organization Advanced Threat Containment Unit could. Since Campbell had helped Johnson with control over her powers, Johnson and Mackenzie went to recruit him to help Gutierrez.

Four Inhumans recently transformed and disappeared; S.H.I.E.L.D. and the ATCU thought the other was the reason.

Daisy Johnson and Alphonso Mackenzie reached Cincinnati Memorial Hospital, where Lincoln Campbell worked. They confronted Campbell in one of the rooms, and tried to convince him to return to S.H.I.E.L.D.. As the conversation between Campbell and Mackenzie heated up, the hospital lights started flickering. Daisy Johnson thought Campbell was causing it and told him to calm down. Campbell told her it was not him. The lights then went out, caused by the monstrous Inhuman known as Lash. After he killed a security guard at the hospital wing's entrance, he asked a nurse where to find Campbell, before seeing him down a hallway.

The battle started when Johnson and Campbell attempted to stop Lash, but only continued to escalate. Lash was slowed down by the combined attacks of Campbell and Johnson, but it did not completely stop him. Lash blasted a hole in the wall and tried to escape, but Johnson, Campbell, and Mackenzie eventually found him. Shortly after, Lash was forced to retreat after Johnson blasted a hole in the floor, by which he fell through and escaped.

Lincoln Campbell knew that his usage of his powers was seen by others and felt that his attempt at "normalcy" was ruined; instead of going with S.H.I.E.L.D., he chose to be on his own. Tina Adams identified Campbell when the ATCU arrived to assess the scene, and decided to chase him as a fugitive.

S.H.I.E.L.D. and the ATCU now knew that there was a new player in the game, that neither had expected. Months later, Lash was discovered to be Andrew Garner; during the Kidnapping of Melinda May, Campbell attacked Garner in anger, stopping an attempt to capture the man, peacefully.
