The Attack on Kingpin's Competition was an attempt by a rival criminal operation to seize one of Kingpin's territories in New York City. The attempt was thwarted when Kingpin sent Maya Lopez, Edgar, and Davy to kill the rivals and prevent the takeover, which pit them in a fight against Daredevil.

In 2007, Wilson Fisk allied himself with the Tracksuit Mafia, a criminal organization that operated in New York City.[2][3] Fisk worked closely with William Lopez, who served as the leader of the Tracksuits, and became close to his daughter, Maya Lopez.[2] By 2015, Fisk had accrued a signicant amount of influence, power and control as a criminal leader in the city, pitting him against Daredevil, a vigilante who operated in Hell's Kitchen.[4] Fisk, who became known as Kingpin, had consolidated control over the city but was defeated by Daredevil, which led to his incarceration.[5]
Kingpin recruits Maya Lopez
In 2018, Thanos' Snap killed half of all lives in the universe,[6] although both Kingpin and Daredevil survived. Kingpin was then released from prison and began regaining his criminal power and influence along with his control over the city.[7] One of his actions to secure this power involved in him arranging for William to be murdered by Ronin so that he could assume power over the Tracksuit Mafia. William's death at the hands of Ronin angered Maya, who was now an adult and sought vengeance. As Maya was unaware of his role in her father's murder, Kingpin sought to keep her in the dark as well as harness her anger, which resulted in him recruiting her into his criminal organization, offering it as an outlet for her to vent her rage. During this time, a rival criminal organization attempted to move in on one of Kingpin's territories, prompting him to send two of his men, Edgar and Davy, to prevent the takeover by killing the rivals. Kingpin also assigned Maya to join Edgar and Davy as an exercise to test her combat abilities.[7]

Lopez witnesses the fight
Edgar, Davy, and Maya Lopez arrived at the facility, where they were frisked, although the frisker groped Lopez's ass, prompting her to pin him against the wall. As they were granted entrance, Edgar spoke to the one of the guards, telling him that Kingpin thanked him for his loyalty; in response, the guard he was speaking to murdered the other guard and opened the door for them. As Edgar, Davy and Lopez made their way into the room, Edgar shot at one of the rival criminals before launching himself into a room.
Daredevil prepares to fight Lopez
The two men began to fight and kill the rivals as Lopez watched. However, she was then tackled by one of the rival men, forcing her to defend herself. Lopez was able to manuever herself into a position where she had a hold on his back, after which she decided to snap his spine and kill him. The kill emboldened her to fully enter the fight and she fought the rivals inside, including the one who had groped her. When she knocked him out, she was praised by Edgar, who was then swiftly knocked out by one of Daredevil, who had tossed one of his billy clubs at him. Lopez exited the room and Daredevil followed, who told her that he had been watching the rival organization all night and that they had messed things up.
Lopez fights Daredevil
With his billy clubs out, Daredevil engaged in a fight with Lopez. Lopez was able to hold her own in the close-combat scenario, but was unable to land any serious blows on Daredevil. When one of the rival men ran out of the room and tackled Daredevil, Lopez used it as an opportunity to grab a shotgun. However, Daredevil swiftly subdued the rival man and flipped over as Lopez fired the gun and managed to disarm her. He prevented Lopez from grabbing another gun and used his grappling hook to disarm her once again. Daredevil evaded her attacks and knocked her back. Lopez ran at Daredevil, and the pair briefly grappled before Daredevil pulled a shelving unit down onto Lopez. He then fled from the scene as Lopez extricated herself from under the unit.[7]

Lopez made her way to Wilson Fisk's Penthouse, where Wilson Fisk commended her for being able to duel with Daredevil, stating that she performed better than he had expected. He then asked her if she found the combat experience of use, to which Lopez replied that she found it immensely useful. Lopez was then further trained by Fisk and became an enforcer and killer under his employ.[7]
