The Attack on James Lucas was a failed attempt by the Stylers to kill James Lucas.

Bushmaster was informed by Mouse that his attempt to kill Mariah Dillard and Tilda Johnson had failed, as Luke Cage rescued them both. Angered by this, McIver ordered the Stylers to find and eliminate both Dillard and Johnson, as well everyone who was close to Cage. Stylers managed to find Dillard who was taken to the 29th Precinct Police Station and attacked her outside of the building, however, she was saved by Cage again.
Luke Cage offers James Lucas protection
One of the Stylers told Cage that McIver had put out bounties on Dillard, Johnson, and Cage himself which also included his loved ones. Cage informed Nandi Tyler and Misty Knight about what happened, and guessed that James Lucas was the Stylers' next target, rushing rushed to the Mount Olivet Baptist Church. Arriving at the church, Cage pleaded Lucas to come with him to a safe place but Lucas refused to leave the church when he was in the middle of a sermon. Lucas told Cage that he would have to stay in the church to protect him which Cage reluctantly agreed to.[3]

Later that day, as James Lucas held his sermon, Luke Cage stayed at the Mount Olivet Baptist Church, listening to his sermon while also keeping watch. Eventually, Cage's suspicion proved to be correct, as the Stylers entered the church with the guns and attempted to kill Lucas. Cage defended his father, as well as the civilians, from bullets and quickly took down both members of the Stylers. When more Stylers arrived at the church, Cage defeated them all as the rest of the civilians run away from the church. As Lucas attempted to retreat, he was approached by the last members of the Stylers, however, Lucas punched him in the face before he was found by Cage.[3]

Understanding that staying at the Mount Olivet Baptist Church was too dangerous, Luke Cage and James Lucas left the church to find Misty Knight. Heading to Mother's Touch, Cage assisted Knight and Nandi Tyler to take down the Stylers which attempted to kill Mariah Dillard and Tilda Johnson. Cage knew that the Stylers will not stop hunting them and asked Knight to contact Danny Rand who could help them.[3] Rand gave them the address to Rand Enterprises Research Facility so they could use it as a safe house to protect Lucas, Dillard, and Johnson.[4]
