The Attack on James Connors was an assault by Tyrone Johnson in an attempt to kill James Connors.

In 2009, James Connors was holding Billy Johnson at gunpoint after chasing him when he was surprised by the Destruction of the Roxxon Gulf Platform. This caused him to pull the trigger, thus killing Billy. Billy's younger brother Tyrone witnessed the incident, but no one ever believed his testimony, as Connors was protected by his uncle Asa Henderson who covered up the story. As a result, Tyrone felt that justice had never been served and for years he never forgot that his brother had been killed by a NOPD officer.
Incidentally, the same event had also given powers to two people : Tyrone himself and Tandy Bowen, who obtained powers respectively based on Darkforce and Lightforce. These powers never manifested for years, until they had their first encounter which made them realize who each other was. Tyrone struggled to control his powers, which eventually caused him to come across Connors.[5] Recognizing him as the murderer of his brother, Tyrone began to track down Connors in an attempt to get revenge.[6]
Attack[]
Having stolen a gun secretly kept by his mother, Tyrone Johnson made his way to James Connors' apartment, where Connors was busy fixing his stove. Johnson then violently kicked the door and broke in, surprising Connors who fled upstairs upon noticing Johnson's weapon. Johnson chased him down and Connors, in his rush, tripped and fell, leaving him at the mercy of Johnson. He turned around and faced Johnson, who armed the weapon. Screaming in anger, Johnson prepared to fire, but his Darkforce powers manifested right before the instant, teleporting him away and leaving Connors heavily distraught. Johnson suddenly appeared in front of a car driven by Tandy Bowen and fired the gun, breaking the windshield and causing Bowen to crash her car.[6]

Although she was not hit when Tyrone Johnson fired his gun, Tandy Bowen was wounded in the car crash. Johnson and Bowen recognized each other as they already had met before, but Bowen decided to leave nonetheless due to being on the run for stabbing Rick Cotton and subsequently robbing a wedding, despite Johnson advising her against it due to her wounds.
Bowen told Johnson she hoped she would never see him again, and then returned to her mother's house in an attempt to recover and prepare her departure from New Orleans. This would eventually cause her to meet with Detective Brigid O'Reilly. Meanwhile, Johnson hid from the police car arriving and managed to return to the city, where he sought advice in prayer before being offered help by Evita Fusilier.[7]
