"Come on. I never totally fit in with the gang, anyway."
The subject of this article is part of an MCU franchise story that has been officially deemed to be non-canonical to the primary continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Its events instead occur in another reality within the Multiverse. This universe is designated by the Marvel Cinematic Universe Wiki as the "A.I.M. Operative Controller Universe".

"Bullski's launching an attack on Stark Indust... well... on me, actually."
Tony Stark[src]

The Attack on Iron Man was an attempt by A.I.M. to steal the Iron Man armor.

Background[]

"The weapons are gone. What do they want?"
"Maybe the last weapon, Pepper... the Iron Man suit."
Pepper Potts and Tony Stark[src]

Titanium Man

Obadiah Stane contacted the A.I.M. President and offered a merger of A.I.M. with Stark Industries. The President agreed, and Stane asked the President to have his engineers work to replicate Tony Stark's Mark I Iron Man armor. A.I.M. struggled to find a power source for the armor, so they made two attempts to steal a nuclear power source, both of which were foiled by Stark. Stane became frustrated with A.I.M., demanding a prototype of the armor. A.I.M. and Stane decided to try and steal the armor from Stark themselves.[1]

"What the hell is going on here? Is this some military exercise?"
"No, Tony! We're under attack!"
Tony Stark and Pepper Potts[src]

A.I.M. sent soldiers to Stark Industries Headquarters, surprising both Tony Stark and Pepper Potts. Stark ordered an evacuation of the facility as James Rhodes contacted him, and Stark explained what happened. Obadiah Stane contacted Stark as he fought through A.I.M.'s forces, and Stane said that he was responsible for the attack before hanging up and refusing Potts' calls.

Stark defeated the A.I.M. soldiers present and found Boris Bullski, who insisted that Stark should have listened to A.I.M.'s warnings and attacked Stark. Stark avoided the attacks and fought Bullski, who called for reinforcements which Stark defeated. Bullski explained that Stane was unable to provide what A.I.M. needed and that the organization intended to take it. Further reinforcements arrived, which Stark defeated. Helicopters arrived and attacked, and Stark defeated all the reinforcements as well as Bullski.[1]

"You have been working with A.I.M."
"Don't look so surprised."
Tony Stark and Obadiah Stane[src]

Obadiah Stane became unreachable, and Tony Stark returned to his workshop to work on the armor, telling Pepper Potts to find Stane. As Stark got home, he found Stane inside his workshop. Stane said he needed to talk to Stark, but Stark shouted at him for working with A.I.M. Stane told Stark not to be surprised and explained that he was working with A.I.M. because of Stark's refusal to work with him. He called Stark selfish and insisted that Stark Industries was not better than A.I.M., telling Stark to imagine what the Pentagon could do with an army of Iron Men. Stark responded that the United States of America's enemies would get it too, but Stane said he could not control that. Stark threatened to arrest Stane, who revealed that he had the original Iron Man suit. Stane explained that he could not get a power source and user a taser Stark, knocking him out. Stane then kidnapped Potts.

Iron Monger

Once Stark woke up, he rushed to rescue Potts despite it being a trap. Meanwhile, Stane escape and pressured A.I.M. to finish their design. Stark became newly determined to fight A.I.M. and attacked their headquarters while Potts looked into Stane. However, Stane took Potts hostage and told Stark, so Stark attacked Stane. Stark tricked Stane into standing over the Arc Reactor while Potts fired an electromagnetic pulse from it, allowing him to defeat Stane.[1]
