The Assassination of the Iron Gang Leader was an assassination planned by Xu Wenwu and it was executed and lead by Xu Shang-Chi to kill the Iron Gang Leader.

The Iron Gang managed to locate the place where Xu Wenwu had retired from his life of crimes and lived with his family, but the moment they attacked he was not present, so they killed his wife Ying Li for retaliation. Wenwu, consumed by vengeance, donned the Ten Rings again and massacred the gang, taking his son Shang-Chi to witness it.

Wenwu then put Shang-Chi through vigorous training to become his greatest warrior, and once he was ready, he tasked the boy to kill the Iron Gang Leader. As he was about to depart, Shang-Chi promised his sister Xu Xialing that he would come back for her.[1]

"We found the man responsible for killing your mother. It is your right to finish this for both of us."

Shang-Chi was sent with orders from Xu Wenwu to kill the Iron Gang Leader, accompanied by the Death Dealer for both his protection and to make sure he completed the mission. He successfully tracked and assassinated the Iron Gang Leader, avenging his mother Ying Li, but being traumatized for having become a killer.[1]

Aftermath[]

Shang-Chi instantly regretted having become a killer, and wished to escape his father's criminal life. Fleeing to San Francisco in the United States, he changed his name to Shaun and started a new life, leaving his sister behind despite the promise he made.[1]
