The Assassination of Ten Rings Operatives was a plan by Obadiah Stane to betray Raza Hamidmi al-Wazar's Ten Rings cell, kill them, and steal the Iron Man Armor: Mark I from them.

Tony Stark's armor is found
Out of jealousy of Tony Stark, Obadiah Stane hired the Ten Rings to kill him. However, upon learning who they actually were sent to kill, the Ten Rings held Stark in captivity to build the Jericho missiles for them. Stark eventually broke out using a suit of armor. Additionally, he destroyed the Ten Rings' existing weapons on the way out. While searching the rubble of the escape, the Ten Rings found the armor's mask and then found the rest of the armor. They started assembling it.[2]

Raza Hamidmi al-Wazar offers blueprints

Obadiah Stane traveled to the Ten Rings Base to talk with Raza Hamidmi al-Wazar. Once there, Stane was told to leave his men outside, which he complied with before going inside with al-Wazar. The two businessmen talked and Stane blame al-Wazar for not killing Tony Stark. However, al-Wazar argued he was paid trinkets to kill a prince and therefore demanded more.
Raza Hamidmi al-Wazar is paralyzed
al-Wazar attempted a deal and showed Stane the rebuilt armor and offered the blueprints to it in exchange for an army of the suits when they became commercialized. Stane leaned close and used the Sonic Taser to incapacitate al-Wazar. He told the enemy to relax, saying that it was short term paralysis caused by something scarce in the Middle-East: technology. On his way out, he took the blueprints and ordered his men to shoot the rest of the soldiers, which had been gathered up on their knees already.[2]

Obadiah Stane attempts to build his own armor
- "Set up Sector 16 underneath the Arc Reactor, and I'm going to want this data masked. Recruit our top engineers. I want a prototype right away."

Obadiah Stane set up a lab in Sector 16, a hidden sector underneath the Arc Reactor at Stark Industries Headquarters. However, Stane soon found that his group of scientists were incapable of miniaturizing the Arc reactor like Tony Stark did and instead resorted to having to steal Stark's Arc Reactor from him.[2]
