The Assassination of Oscar Clemons was an assassination committed by Will Simpson in order to stop the police from taking Kilgrave in, allowing Simpson to kill Kilgrave himself.

Background[]

Will Simpson was put in great danger from a bomb, but was healed by Miklos Kozlov, who gave him addictive and dangerous medication. Kilgrave broke out of his prison with the help of Jeri Hogarth. Trish Walker left with Albert Thompson to figure out a vaccine while Jessica Jones surveyed the area. Oscar Clemons stayed behind to clean up the scene.[3]

Assassination[]

Will Simpson arrived at the facility and found Oscar Clemons. He introduced himself to Clemons who asked how he got there. Simpson said that Trish Walker called him and he got there as quick as he could. Clemons asked what happened to Simpson's leg, but the question was ignored. Simpson saw Louise Thompson's corpse and Clemons told him in as little details as possible. Clemons then prepared to call a medic to heal his wound suffered by Kilgrave. Simpson said that if the killer had abilities, the system would not be able to contain him. Simpson argued that he could not put him on trial, there is only justice. Clemons went to call the medic, but Simpson pulled his gun saying that he has to finish Kilgrave. Clemons told him where everyone is and then Simpson killed Clemons so there is no chance Kilgrave would be stopped before he is killed.[3]

Aftermath[]

Will Simpson got some gasoline and poured it all over the facility before lighting the match, burning Oscar Clemons alive as well as burning the evidence of Kilgrave's powers.[3]

Jessica Jones got a text saying they've found another body. When she got to the morgue, she lifted the blanket to find Clemons' burnt body, which almost brought her to tears. Later, Jones met with Simpson in her apartment to talk about Kilgrave. Unsure of Simpson's intentions, Jones mentioned that Kilgrave had murdered Clemons; Simpson claimed he had read the police report that Clemons had died in a fire, but Jones confirmed it was a bullet to the head from a policeman's gun. Simpson, however, noted that it would be impossible for such a detailed report to come out so fast and Jones admitted she was testing him. Jones accused Simpson of killing Clemons, noting a fresh burn on his arm. As Jones and Simpson began against each other, she accused him of being under Kilgrave's power but he made it clear that he had murdered Clemons so Kilgrave could not be put in jail and could instead be executed.[4]
