The Asgardian Gold Mine was a gold mine located on Asgard. It is the home of the Nugget of Gold which must be retrieved for the Virtue Challenge.

History[]

Cup of Glory[]

Part of the Virtue Challenge was retrieving a Nugget of Gold from the Asgardian Gold Mine. Haldier discovered the Cup of Glory and wanted to hide it, so he placed it in the Asgardian Gold Mine, where he thought nobody would find it.[1]

Virtue Challenge[]

During a Virtue Challenge in 1521, three teams undertaking the Virtue Challenge, one being the Warriors Three, one consisting of Thor, Loki, and Sif, and the third team consisting of Brunok, Siegrold, and Hilda, arrived in search of the nugget at the same time, having completed the other two parts of the Challenge.

While Loki stole the Cup of Glory, the other teams retrieved the Nugget of Gold, and Thor declared a race to Asgard where the first team to arrive would be the victors of the Virtue Challenge. However, Loki revealed his discovery of the Cup of Glory, leading to a fight amongst all three teams over control of the Cup. During the battle, Thor used Mjølnir to summon lighting, caused the mine to cave in.

The teams got together and started a campfire, and Fandral told the story of the Cup of Glory. They escaped the mine and began the return trip to Asgard, having abandoned the Challenge under the goal to bring the Cup of Glory to Odin.[1]
