History[]
Early History[]
The Darkness Before the Universe[]
Before the universe, there was only darkness. The Dark Elves were a people from Svartalfheim who thrived in this darkness. Under the rule of Malekith, they ruled every part of the cosmos. However the birth of light forced them back into their homeworld. At some point, their homeworld was devastated, leaving the air inhabitable without masks. They stayed in their mothership, the Ark. Malekeith decided to bid his time for the right moment to try and re-conquer the cosmos. Which would be the next Convergence. Th last one having occurred in 2988 B.C.. Meanwhile, his second-in-command, Algrim, built an army of devoted Dark Elves. The Dark Elves had a secret weapon known as Kurse. The Dark Elves and their history became known to Asgard.[1]
Asgardian History[]
Asgard is the home of the Asgardians, who often visited the norse of Earth, becoming the heroes of myth. Led by Odin, the people ruled over the Nine Realms and got into many conflicts with evil, always coming out victorious. He married Frigga. They had two children, Thor and Loki. Frigga taught Loki how to manipulate illusions and Thor how to wield a blade. Mjølnir was created for Thor and him alone. Thor befriended the other Asgandians, Warriors Three and Sif,[1] while Loki grew a desire to become king of Asgard.[2] Heimdall guarded Asgard from threats by controlling the Bifrost Bridge.[1]
World War II[]
The United States entered into the world-wide conflict, World War II. During which the US created Project Rebirth,[3][4][5] headed by Abraham Erskine. They selected Steve Rogers to become the super soldier, Captain America, using the Super Soldier Serum.[4][5] He was someone who was very weak[5][3] but kept trying to join the military.[5][3]Howard Stark made him[4] an unbreakable[3] shield.[4] He fought against Hydra and the Red Skull on the front lines with the Howling Commandos.[4][5] During the war, he had to stop a plane full of bombs, causing him to be lost in the Arctic after he crashed into the ice.[4]
Age of Heroes[]
Rise of Iron Man[]
In 2008, the CEO of Stark Industries, Tony Stark was traveling in enemy territory, when his truck was blown up and starphel damaged his heart. He was then kidnapped, but managed to create the Arc Reactor chestplate to act as a new heart and his first super-powered armor to escape his captors. This event lead to him becoming the superhero, Iron Man[5]
Birth of the Hulk[]
In 2005, General Thaddeus Ross led Project Gamma Pulse to recreate the Super Soldier Serum used to create Captain America. In order to do he enlisted the help of Bruce Banner, his daughter's boyfriend, by saying that wanted to cure Gamma Radiation poisoning. So Bruce allowed to them to experiment on him. However, instead of becoming a super-soldier he became The Incredible Hulk, a powerful monster he transforms into when he is angry. In 2010 the Hulk battled the Abomination.[5] By 2012 he was an expert in Gamma Raidation.[2]
Armor Wars[]
In Russia, Ivan Vanko developed a hatred for Tony Stark created the Whiplash Armor to battle Iron Man.[6]
By 2010, Iron Man continued doing super heroics across the world, from stopping wildfires to attacking a pirate ship. At the same time he continued being apart of Stark Industries, planning and building the next Stark Expo. With one of the participants being Justin Hammer of Hammer Industries. Hammer secretly had an army of drones in his warehouse.[7]
Tony Stark went to to Monaco for a race bringing along Happy Hogan and Pepper Potts, but Tony decided to race himself, surprising his friends. During the race, Ivan Vanko jumped into the track wearing his Whiplash Armor and attacked the other drivers. Hogan quickly grabbed Stark's Mark V Iron Man Armor. Stark escaped his destroyed car and started donning the armor as Hogan distracted Whiplash with his car.[6] Iron Man then battled Whiplash,[6][5] and soon destroyed the Whiplash Armor. Afterwards, Vanko was arrested.[6]
Jim Rhodes demanded that Tony Stark hand over his armor to the United States Goverment, Stark refused so Rhodes stole and piloted the Mark II Iron Man Armor, bringing it to the military. He had Hammer Industries outfit the armor with upgrades, becoming the War Machine Armor, and got permission from General Meade to use the armor. Prior to the Expo, Iron Man discovered Hammer's secret. At the Expo Hammer shows off the War Machine armor, with Rhodey inside. However, Iron Man arrived and Hammer controlled the War Machine armor, forcing War Machine and the drones to battle Iron Man. Iron Man managed to free the War Machine Armor of Hammer's control by removing the power cable and then rebooting the suit. War Machine then apologized to iron Man as they battled the drones, eventually winning the battle.[7]
Around this time, Nick Fury,[5] the director of S.H.I.E.L.D.,[3] selected him as a candidate for the Avengers.[5]
Asgard-Jotunheim War[]
In 2010, Thor started the Asgard-Jotunheim War. Because of this, he was banished to Earth.[1] Using this opportunity, Loki tried to take over Asgard.[2] This culminated in him dueling Loki on the Bifrost Bridge.[5] During this war, Thor fell in love with Jane Foster. Loki lost the battle and switched his attention to trying to take over Earth.[2]
Return of the First Avenger[]
In 2011, A S.H.I.E.L.D. team, led by Nick Fury, discovered the frozen Steve Rogers in the Arctic. S.H.I.E.L.D. managed to bring him back to life, and once he woke up he ran out into New York City, tailed by a car. Once he ran into Times Square he met Fury who explained what had happened to him. Rogers spent a long time catching up on history and continued his training.[5]
Chitauri Invasion[]
In 2012, Nick Fury had decided to assemble the Avengers. He had already assembled Iron Man and Thor, as well as the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, Hawkeye and Black Widow when he told Captain America about the team, having him join. He outfitted Captain America with a new suit.[5] He also had hired Bruce Banner as a scientist but kept the Hulk a secret from the rest.[5][2]
Not long after, Loki had stolen the Tesseract from S.H.I.E.L.D. and planned to use it rule Earth. He stood onto a German mountain with this vast power, as Banner tracked the Tesseract's Gamma Radiation to find Loki. The Quinjet then dropped the five members of the Avengers on the mountain, where the fought and captured Loki. They also took back the Tesseract. After the battle, Fury had Hulk reveal himself and join the team.[2]
The Chitauri invaded New York City, but the Avengers stopped them. By 2013, Loki was transferred into Asgardian custody.[1]
Post-Avengers[]
War of the Nine Realms[]
Following the Chitauri Invasion, Thor returned to Asgard. When the Bifrost Bridge went down, the looters known as the Marauders heard and began attacking the other planets of the Nine Realms. Thor, the Warriors Three, and Sif protected these realms from them.[1] Including the Battle of Vanaheim,[8][1] where they attacked the weaponless Vanir people.[1] Thor entered suddenly via the Bifrost to turn the tide of battle toward his Asgardian friends who were helping defend them against the Marauders. They continued to fight till the Kornan Stone Man stepped forward and battled Thor. The Kronan Stone Man died during the battle due the force of their weapons clashing.[8][1] This ultimately ended the battle, and afterwards the five helped the people of the realm.[8]
Jane Foster became absent in Thor's life so Sif tried to fill the void in his heart, but Thor did not reciprocate her feelings.[1]
Second Dark Elf Conflict[]
At some point, Heimdall conversed with Thor about the Convergence and his worry of the war with the Dark Elves that would come with. He later took the time to review all the warriors of the Realms. Heimdall resolved to continue to protect it. Odin was also worried about the coming war. Malekeith did use the Convergence as the opportunity to strike again. They attacked Asgard, with Algrim having been transformed into the Dark Elves' secret weapon, Kurse.[1]
Mandarin's Reign of Terror[]
Tony Stark began trying to make the perfect Iron Man Armor. Meanwhile, the Mandarin began attacking. This included the Destruction of the Chinese Theatre, with injured Happy Hogan, cuasing him to talk to the news. Later that day, the Mandarin's helicopters attacked his mansion, his friends escaped but Iron Man stayed to fight. However, he was bested by the Mandarin's strength and intelligence, so Iron Man flew away in his damaged armor. After crashing into the snow, Stark carried his armor to an old shed and began working constantly to repair his armor. Once it was fixed, he returned to fight the Mandarin, rescuing several Air Force One passengers, after their plane was attacked by the Mandarin.[9]
Hijacking and Retaking of the Lemurian Star[]
Captain America and Black Widow continued to work for S.H.I.E.L.D.. A group of pirates, led by Georges Batroc, hijacked the large cargo ship the Lemurian Star. Nick Fury discovered the hijackeing and called Captain America into a meeting. Fury explained that Captain America was the only one who could save them. He explained the mission before he then rode off on his motorcycle and boarded a Quinjet with Black Widow as the pilot.
Once the Quinjet reached the destination, Captain America dived out of the plane toward the highjacked ship. He landed in the nearby ocean before crawling on board. He couldn't find the hostages and then the guards spotted him, forcing him to subdue them. Fury warned Black Widow about Georges Batroc so she put the plane on autopilot and joined Captain America. Captain America continued to make his way through the ship and learned of the location of Batroc's secret control room, and soon subdued Batroc. Black Widow took out pirates as well and after Captain America tied up Batroc before he and Black Widow crashed into the cargo hold to save the hostages. They used the Quinjet to ferry the relieved hostages to the S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters.[3]
