"She's out there, waiting, longing to be freed. While the cruel masses deserve to face her judgment. And in the wake of their screams, evil eradicated."
Arthur Harrow to Steven Grant[src]

The Conspiracy to Release Ammit was a religious movement initiated by Arthur Harrow and his cult to release Ammit to purify the Earth by judging and eradicating all those who would do harm in their lifetime. However, this pitted Harrow against Khonshu and Moon Knight.

Background[]

Imprisonment of Ammit[]

"I once relied on a servant whose Scales balanced perfectly. In exchange, I was bound to stone for two thousand years."
Ammit to Arthur Harrow[src]

Ammit was among the Egyptian pantheon, worshiped by people of Ancient Egypt, however, she was feared for judging humans based on their past, present, and future to decide whether a person was worthy to live or not.[1] Eventually, Ammit was betrayed by her fellow Ennead and her own Avatar, Alexander the Great, and was imprisoned in the ushabti by the Ennead Council. The Council tasked Senfu with hiding the ushabti in the Tomb of Alexander the Great, without disclosing its location, in fear that any Ennead might have a mercy to bring Ammit back.[3]

Ambush on Steven Grant[]

Steven Grant restocked the inventory in the museum gift shop he worked in, alone in discontent. Later, the lights of the museum turned off and Grant prepared to leave for the night, though he stopped when he heard the sound of a howling dog echo through the halls of the building. Grant wandered through the museum to try and find the dog.

Reflections

Grant realises he is not alone

Before long, Grant found himself in an open hallway, where the creature closed in on him. Terrified, Grant hid behind a display case when Harrow got onto the museum loudspeakers, ordering him to give up the scarab or else he would be torn apart. Grant took off his satchel and threw it away from him as a distraction, prompting the creature to lunge out and attack it.

Grant attempted to sneak away, though he accidentally bumped into a vase on display. Grant managed to catch it before it fell, though the sound he made alerted the creature, which gave chase to Grant as he ran through the halls of the museum in terror. Grant ran into a side hall, where he threw down a shelf to distance himself from the creature, though the creature simply leaped over it.

Spector speaks to Grant from the reflection

Grant locked himself in the second bathroom as the creature relentlessly tried to break down the door. Marc Spector began to converse with Grant, trying to convince him to let him take over the body. Grant finally agreed to Spector's request, Spector began fronting and summoned his Moon Knight suit when the creature finally broke down the door and tackled him.

Moon Knight proceeded to ruthlessly beat the creature into submission, dragging it back into the bathroom when it attempted to flee. After pummeling the helpless creature with his fist, Moon Knight stood victorious over its dead body before exiting the destroyed bathroom.[1] Spector walked out of the bathroom and stared at the security camera in the museum, before returning to Grant's apartment and going to sleep, allowing Grant to front again so that his alter did not suspect anything had happened.[4]

Aftermath[]

Jake Lockley

Jake Lockley shoots Arthur Harrow

"You wanna know something? Marc Spector truly believed that after he and I parted ways, I wanted his wife to be my Avatar. Why would I ever need anybody else when he has no idea how troubled he truly is? Meet my friend, Jake Lockley."
Khonshu to Arthur Harrow[src]

In the aftermath of the campaign, a crippled Harrow was abducted from the Sienkiewicz Psychiatric Hospitall. Harrow was brought into a limo, where he met with Khonshu. Khonshu explained that he never wanted Marc's wife as his future Avatar, saying that he would never need anybody else when Spector had no idea how troubled he is, later introducing him to Jake Lockley, Spector's third alter. Lockley then proceeded to shoot Harrow multiple times, bringing an end to Harrow's campaign.[6]
