Artemis shuts down Wilson Fisk
Artemis Sledge was a socialite in New York City and the wife of Arthur Sledge. In 2027, many socialites, including the Sledges and Jack Duquesne, were invited to Mayor Wilson Fisk's fundraiser for the Red Hook Port Revitalization Project. During the fundraiser, Artemis listened as Fisk claimed that the restoration of the Red Hook Port was for the benefit of the city. In response, Artemis stated that it was self-serving and that he was using taxpayer dollars for his personal financial reasons, as she was aware that Fisk had made a fortune through the port during his criminal past as Kingpin. She then told Fisk that while he might hold a seat of power as mayor, it was still the elite who made the decisions.[2]
Black & White Ball[]

Artemis speaks with Jack Duquesne
- "I must say, I am surprised to see you here, given your feelings towards our mayor."
"I thought it best not to offend him."
"And where is your better half, Arthur, tonight?"
"I... uh... I don't know. Do you?" - ―Jack Duquesne and Artemis Sledge[src]
Despite sneering on Wilson Fisk for his mayoral ambitions, Artemis became fearful when Fisk formed his own private taxpayer-funded militia in the Anti-Vigilante Task Force, who had been granted additional powers to use excessive force and trample civil liberties. Artemis was invited to Fisk's Black & White Ball, which also served as a fundraiser to have private investors match public funding. Artemis attended the ball in fear, where she was approached by fellow socialite Jack Duquesne, who voiced surprised at her appearance. Artemis informed him that she did not want to offend Fisk as she nervously looked around the room. When Duquesne asked where her husband Arthur was, Artemis responded that she did not know before walking away.[3]
