The Arrest of Maya Lopez was an attempt by the New York City Police Department to take Maya Lopez into custody for breaking and entering into a motorsports shop, only for her to be liberated by Wilson Fisk.

In 2007, William Lopez and Maya Lopez relocated from Tamaha, Oklahoma to New York City. William was given a position by his brother Henry Lopez, who worked with Wilson Fisk,[2] within the Tracksuit Mafia, a criminal organization that operated in the city.[3]
In 2018, the Snap occurred, killing half of all life in the universe, although all the Lopezes and Fisk survived. Due to his family being killed in the Snap, Clint Barton donned the moniker of Ronin and began a crusade to kill any criminals that were still alive, deeming them not worthy of getting to live while his wife and kids died. While on his years-long quest, Ronin came across Fisk, also known as Kingpin, who oversaw the criminal world of New York City, and became fearful of him. Upon learning of Ronin's vendetta, Fisk decided to use it to his advantage. He had one of his people inform Ronin that the Tracksuit Mafia used Fat Man Auto Repair as their headquarters, intending for Ronin to kill William and other top lieutenants.[4]

Ronin then attacked the auto shop, using his sword to massacre the members of the Tracksuits. Maya, who had returned to the shop after a martial arts lesson, was horrified to see the carnage and witnessed her father being mortally wounded by Ronin, who then jumped out of a window and fled. Maya then ran to her father's side, who tearfully told her to leave before passing away. As a result, Maya became very rageful and developed a hatred towards Ronin.[3]

Lopez is confronted by the NYPD
Due to the murder of her father, Maya Lopez's attitude changed and she began to perform reckless deeds. One night, she broke into a motorsports store in New York City, triggering an alarm. While hotwiring a motorcycle, she noticed sirens in the reflection of the glass window. Lopez, having successfully started the engine on the motorcycle, then redirected it through the glass window, hitting the police car outside. The officers of the New York City Police Department then apprehended Lopez and arrested her.[2]

Kingpin, who had regained his criminal influence in New York City, was notified of Maya Lopez's arrest. He then swiftly arrived on the scene, where he merely walked up to the police officers as they were about to handcuff Lopez and wrested her away. Due to his power and influence, the police officers cowered and allowed him to do so. Fisk and Lopez then got into Fisk's car and drove away. There, Fisk told Lopez that his father had been killed when he was a child, and that he therefore understood what she was going through and how she felt. He suggested that she focus her rage and successfully convinced her to join his criminal empire. In order to test out her combat abilities, Fisk sent Lopez on a mission to kill his rivals and defend his territory. During the mission, she was able to hold her own against Daredevil, although she was eventually defeated. Despite this, Fisk commended her for her combat prowess.[2]

Lopez works as a killer for Kingpin
She was then given a high-ranking position within the Tracksuit Mafia,[3] and became an enforcer and a killer for Fisk.[2] However, she agreed to serve him only under the condition that he use his resources to locate Ronin and that she be allowed to kill him, which Fisk agreed to.[1]
