- "As I understand it, you've been charged with petty larceny, a class A misdemeanor. The complaint against you alleges you stole approximately five boxes of Fiddle Faddle from a bodega."
- ―Matt Murdock to Leroy Bradford[src]
The Arrest of Leroy Bradford was an arrest made by San Miguel and Wilcox of Leroy Bradford over stealing stealing caramel corn from a bodega.
Background[]
- "Last time I got 30 days, know what happened? I missed my SSI appointment and they cut my benefits. Bad enough trying to live off food stamps, but when they cut it, man, it takes forever to get that shit back regular. Then you gotta start eating throw away crap from supermarket dumpsters, begging for change, for food."
- ―Leroy Bradford to Matt Murdock[src]
For a while, Leroy Bradford had an unfortunate experience with the low, being arrested for numerous counts of petty larceny and failing to appear in court at least four times. One time, when Bradford was detained for thirty days, he happened to miss his appointment with Supplemental Security Income and had his benefits cut. Due to his bad financial situation, Bradford struggled to get his life back in order and had to live off food stamps. However, the food stamps were taken away soon later, so Bradford had to resort to rummaging through supermarket dumpsters or begging for spare change, just so he could feed himself.[2]
Arrest[]

Leroy Bradford is detained by the San Miguel and Wilcox
- "The thing is, the bodega where this allegedly occurred has a surveillance system, involving many cameras. They've already turned over to the prosecution footage which they claim shows you stealing the items. In addition, the cashier is willing to testify she was an eyewitness to the whole thing, and the store security guard will testify that when he detained you, you were in possession of multiple boxes of Fiddle Faddle caramel corn."
- ―Matt Murdock to Leroy Bradford[src]
One night, Leroy Bradford could not go on eating expired supermarket food anymore and wanted something different, so he stole fix boxes of Fiddle Faddle caramel corn from a local bodega. He got caught by a security guard stealing the corn and the New York City Police Department was called to take him in. San Miguel and Wilcox responded to the call, taking Bradford into custody and mocking him, while casually eating the corn he stole. Bradford repeatedly claimed that he was innocent and taken to the detention center, as the police collected the security camera footage and testimonies from the cashier and the guard that proved Bradford's guilt.[2]
Aftermath[]

Matt Murdock represents Leroy Bradford
- "Look, I said probation, and I meant probation!"
"You took the stuff, Leroy. There is no probation to be had here. This is the best deal you're gonna get, so you tell me, how is this not a 'Good job, counselor' situation?"
"So, you just wanna shove my ass into jail and I'm supposed to thank you?" - ―Leroy Bradford and Matt Murdock[src]
Murdock & McDuffie was requested to handle Leroy Bradford's case to repay a favor, so Matt Murdock went to the detention center to represent him. Although Bradford continue to deny being guilty, Murdock let him know that the District Attorney's office has all the evidence to prove that he did steal the caramel corn. Bradford continued to deflect and even asked if it could be chalked up to being a Skrull incident, but Murdock made it clear that it was not going to work. Murdock then let him know that the court would bring up his rap sheet and said that if Bradford would try to fight the case, the judge would definitely set bail, which Bradford could not pay.
Murdock advised Bradford to back out and sit out in jail until it was over, but Bradford was strongly against jail and insisted on Murdock getting him a probation. Murdock approached Sofija Ozola and asked her if Bradford's punishment could be changed to a probation, but she pointed out that Bradford was a repeated offender. Murdock was eventually able to convince Ozola to reduce the punishment to ten days of detention, but Bradford was not satisfied with Murdock's efforts. Murdock claimed that a reduced detention was the best he could get in his situation and he should be grateful, but Bradford then told Murdock about him being repeatedly failed by the system, while he only wanted to feed himself. Hearing Bradford's story made Murdock felt guilty and apologized for his outburst, as Bradford was taken to Rikers Island, despite his crime being petty theft.[2]
