- "I hope you understand, this is more than a collection to me. Preserving history is a responsibility I take very seriously."
- ―Anton Mogart to Layla El-Faouly[src]
Anton Mogart is an antiquities collector and former friend of Layla El-Faouly.
Biography[]
Antiquities Collector[]
- "So, this Mogart guy. He's really gonna have his sarcophagus?"
"Yes. I asked around. Mogart's collection is prime gossip for those of us who deal in antiquities." - ―Marc Spector and Layla El-Faouly[src]
Anton Mogart made a name for himself as a wealthy antiquities collector, amassing his collection at his estate in Cairo, Egypt. He also came into the possession of Senfu's sarcophagus, which was sold to him on the black market. While in Madripoor, Mogart became acquainted with Layla El-Faouly.[1]
Encountering Moon Knight[]
Meeting with Layla El-Faouly[]
- "I prefer to see it as a philanthropic effort at preservation. Now, if I may ask, why such interest in Senfu in particular?"
"Oh, actually, our purchases are–"
"I'm sorry. I'd like to hear from your husband, if you don't mind." - ―Anton Mogart and Layla El-Faouly[src]
Mogart was reached out to by Layla El-Faouly for assistance and looked forward to seeing her. That night, Mogart was practicing El-Mermah on horseback, while shirtless, with one of his friends while people watched from outside the arena.
When he saw that El-Faouly arrived, he ended his practice and met with her and Marc Spector who were escorted over by Bek. They told him they were looking for Senfu's sarcophagus. He welcomed them in, though questioning their reason for seeking the relic.
Allowing the two to view the sarcophagus, he watched as Spector stayed by it, while El-Faouly walked back out to speak with them. However, Mogart and Bek realized that Spector's behavior was suspicious and rushed inside to stop him from continuing his mission.[1]
Battle at His Estate[]
- "The lore surrounding these relics, I offer proof that it's real."
- ―Arthur Harrow to Anton Mogart[src]
Eventually, Arthur Harrow had been notified of the duo's arrival, and he offered to show Mogart the power of Ammit, turning Mogart against El-Faouly and Spector. When Harrow left, Spector donned the Moon Knight Suit and fought off Mogart's men.
Mogart was transported to safety onto one of his horses, as the battle at his estate ensued. Once El-Faouly and Spector had depleted his security, Mogart prepared to kill El-Faouly, who was trapped on the ground of his El-Mermah arena, by trying to trample her with his horse.
However, Spector countered his attack by rushing to protect her, saving El-Faouly from Mogart's attack. Spector proceeded to throw a Crescent Blade at Mogart's back, incapacitating him as he cried out in pain while riding away.[1]
Personality[]
- "Get on your knees."
"Okay."
"Layla, I was so ready to make peace with you." - ―Anton Mogart and Marc Spector[src]
This section needs a rewrite |
Anton Mogart takes interest in historical pieces, such as Senfu's sarcophagus, and claims that his doings were for greater good and the preservation of relics, though this was pointed by Layla El-Faouly to be a self-appointed responsibility that just Mogart himself could enjoy. While charming and kind at first, Mogart is not without his dark side. At first, he warmly welcomed Layla into his estate and kissed on her hand in a gentleman act, but was hesitant to shake hands with Marc Spector, only shaking his hand when Spector put his hand out first, showing his liking of Layla and disliking of Spector. Though later, he threatened to kill both Marc and Layla since they attempted to steal the sarcophagus.
Anton Mogart might be power hungry, as he immediately was persuaded by Arthur Harrow to stop Marc Spector to examine Senfu’s sarcophagus after Harrow showed him Ammit’s power channelled through the staff. He may also exert authority over his enemies, by ordering them to get on their knees, although he noted that he didn’t want to be enemies with Layla El-Faouly.
Abilities[]
- "This joker just puts on El-Mermah games in his backyard, for fun?"
"No, he gets private lessons by the best in his backyard." - ―Marc Spector and Layla El-Faouly[src]
- Spear Mastery: Mogart demonstrated his jousting abilities when training in his backyard, as well as during his attempt to kill Layla El-Faouly later when they attempted to take the artefact away. As claimed by Layla El-Faouly, he was trained by the best in El-Mermah, therefore it is possible that he at least had some level of mastery over the sport.
- Multilingualism: Mogart is fluent in his native French, as well as in English and Arabic.
