Attack on Josie's Bar[]
Angie Kim was a Detective within the New York City Police Department and worked alongside fellow Detective Cherry. In late 2025, Kim attended Cherry's retirement party at Josie's Bar, where she asked him why he was quitting, and asked if he at least planned to travel the world and go on adventures.
Kim questions Cherry's decision to retire
When Cherry responded that he was retiring, Kim remained steadfast that she viewed it as him quitting. Cherry then told her that he believed the NYPD had become obsolete due to vigilantes such as Daredevil and White Tiger operating within the city. Kim told Cherry that the police represented law and order instead of vigilantes, but asserted that she believed vigilantes were like police officers; some were genuinely good people who wanted to help others, while others were caught up in the power.

Kim and Cherry then got another round of drinks, which Josie stated was free of charge. Moments later, the bar was attacked by Bullseye, who threw a smoke grenade into the store and began murdering some of the patrons. Kim and Cherry helped usher some of the patrons outside of the bar before they pulled out their guns and went back inside. Kim stayed downstairs while Cherry made his way to the roof, where Bullseye was defeated by Daredevil.[2]
New York Mutual Bank Robbery[]
Kim introduces herself to Rodriguez
On St. Patrick's Day in 2027, Kim was called to the scene of a bank robbery as a hostage negotiator. She introduced herself to Rodriguez and asked for a status report. Rodriguez informed Kim that twenty civilians were being held hostage by the bank robbers and that there had been no contact.

However, an officer then gave Kim a cell with the head robber on the phone. The robber marveled at Kim's use of "whom" when asking who he was and introduced himself as Jesse James. Kim told the robber he had chosen a heck of a day to pull a bank heist and jokingly asked him if he wanted to come out and have a drink with her. The robber noted Kim's calm and firmness, saying she was following a manual.
Kim discerns the robber's Belfastian accent
Kim quipped that she was not aware the manual was accessible in Belfast, recognizing the robber's accent. The robber told her that cops around the world were the same and predicted that Kim would try to get the advantage, although Kim noted that he was already surrounded. Kim asserted that he would either come out in handcuffs or a body bag, and the robber told her they should avoid the latter.
Kim learns she has less than thirty minutes
Kim agreed, so the robber asked for three armored cars, seemingly for his accomplices. Kim questioned whether he needed that many, considering his crew was not numerous. The robber calmly explained that he was to rob the bank and her job was to prevent him from killing the hostages, indicating he had no intention of turning himself in and that the armored cars were for the hostages. The robber then gave Kim about thirty minutes to deliver.

Kim told the robber that she needed him to release two hostages as a sign of good faith, and the robber hung up. A few minutes later, a masked robber released a man and woman from the bank, and the two ran across the street. Kim slightly smiled as the head robber had heeded her command. Soon, Kim got back on the phone with the lead robber, who asked when he could expect the armored cars.
Kim tells the robber she needs more time
Kim explained that getting the cars into the financial district would be difficult as many streets were blocked, telling him that she needed another hour. The lead robber expressed disappointment at Kim recognizing his accent but not understanding how important St. Patrick's Day was to a Protestant. He told Kim that she had three minutes to come up with a joke, and if she made him laugh, she would receive another three.
Kim finishes her penguin joke for the robber
Kim asked around to see if anyone knew a good joke, but her deadline soon came. Kim improvised a joke about a leprechaun who inadvertently had sex with a penguin near a church, thinking it was a short leprechaun nun. The robber chuckled and told Kim she had ten minutes before he executed a hostage. Rodriguez told Kim the officers were storming the bank, although Kim advised against such action, noting that the hostages would be caught in the crossfire.
However, Rodriguez did not listen and started counting down for ESU to breach the bank. When Rodriguez reached one, Kim watched as the officers blew a hole into the wall and threw smoke grenades into the building, causing panic among the hostages inside. Soon, the bank robbers were apprehended and taken into custody while the hostages were able to escape the bank and received medical attention.[3]
