The "Anchor Being Wolverine" Universe is an alternate universe designated as Earth-10005 that is home to many mutants, notably including the X-Men, Deadpool and Wolverine. The universe started dying due to the death of their anchor being, Wolverine. This universe was eventually saved by Deadpool and an alternate version of Wolverine who replaced the deceased Wolverine as the new anchor being.
History[]
Wolverine's Origins[]
James Howlett was born and raised in Canada alongside his half-brother, Victor Creed. Years later, Howlett adopted the name Logan and underwent experimentation, which coated his skeleton in Adamantium. Later, Logan did battle with Weapon XI and emerged victorious.[1]
Protected by the X-Men[]
A group of mutants known as the X-Men were founded by Charles Xavier to protect both humanity and mutant alike. Over the years, Quicksilver joined the team, with Logan, now going by Wolverine, joining sometime later. Colossus, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Yukio eventually joined the team as well. Thanks to their many heroic acts, the X-Men, specifically Wolverine, became renowned worldwide.[1]
Merc with a Mouth[]
Deadpool's Origins[]
Wade Wilson was a Canadian ex-Special Forces who moved to the United States and began to work as a mercenary. During this time, Wilson met a stripper named Vanessa Carlysle, and the two fell in love and began a romantic relationship together, with Wilson eventually proposing to Carlysle. Sadly for Wilson, he was soon diagnosed with cancer, leading him to leave Carlysle and undergo an experiential treatment that activated his underlying mutation. While he gained a regenerative healing factor that staved off his cancer, he also became disfigured, leading him to not return to Carlysle and instead move in with Blind Al.
Wilson's scarred figure also led him to seek revenge against the man who experimented on him, Ajax. To enact his revenge, Wilson created superhero costume for himself and took up the name "Deadpool." As Deadpool, he was able to rescue Carlysle, who was kidnapped by Ajax, with the assistance of X-Men Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead. Wilson and Carlysle resumed their romantic relationship following her rescue.[1]
Deadpool & Cable[]
- "I was... mainly I was team leader... founder, really, of X-Force."
- ―Wade Wilson to Happy Hogan[src]
Continuing his vigilantism as Deadpool, Wade Wilson came into conflict with Sergei Valishnikov, who killed Vanessa Carlysle in retaliation. Distraught over the loss of his fiancée, Wilson briefly joined the X-Men before he was kicked out of the team due to his violent methods.
Deadpool soon came into conflict with the time traveler Cable, forming X-Force to combat him. However, most of the team members, including Shatterstar and Peter Wisdom, perished while on their first mission together due to strong winds knocking their parachutes off course. Following the death of most of X-Force's members, Deadpool became allies with Cable and eventually acquired his time travel device.
Using the device, Deadpool went on a journey through space and time. During his travels, Deadpool killed Sergei Valishnikov, saving Vanessa Carlysle from her untimely demise, saved the members of X-Force from their deaths, killed Weapon XI as he was preparing to face off against Wolverine and killed Ryan Reynolds right after he finished the script for Green Lantern.[1]
Deadpool's Retirement[]
- "After all, we're Deadpool."
"Please stop saying that. We're not Deadpool. I'm not even Deadpool anymore." - ―Peter Wisdom and Wade Wilson[src]
Following his rejection from the Avengers of Earth-616, Wade Wilson began to have an existential crisis and decided to quit being Deadpool, feeling as if the work he was doing didn't matter. Vanessa Carlysle attempted to convince Wilson to let her help him work through his problems, but he instead pressured Carlysle into breaking up with him.
Having broken up with Carlysle, Wilson began working at Drive Max alongside his friend and former X-Force member, Peter Wisdom. Still believing that Wilson would want to become Deadpool again, Wisdom kept the Deadpool Suit in his work locker. One day at work, Wilson solemnly stared at the suit. Wilson also moved back in with his former roommate, Blind Al, sharing a bedroom with her.
By 2024, the Time Variance Authority had begun monitoring Wilson from their outposts on Earth-10005, believing him to be special. They secretly took pictures of Wilson and began building a file on him.[1]
Logan's Last Stand[]
- "Your anchor died in an act of self-sacrifice so epic that it sent shivers down the timeline."
- ―Mr. Paradox to Deadpool[src]
In 2029, the artificially created daughter of Logan, Laura, was able to escape from her creators with the help of her father. During a final confrontation with Laura's creators, Logan bravely sacrificed himself to defeat them, dying in Laura's arms. She laid Logan to rest in a grave nearby before leaving. Due to his sacrifice, Laura was able to grow up in peace.
Logan's death also caused Earth-10005 to slowly decay because he is this universe's Anchor Being. As a result, the Time Variance Authority traveled to this universe and pruned individuals they believed would attempt to stop the universe's destruction. These individuals included Magneto, Sabretooth, Pyro, Quicksilver, and Laura, who were all sent to the Void as a result.[1]
Preservation of Earth-10005[]
Wade Wilson's Birthday[]
- "But I'm happy, and that's because of each and every one of you. I guess what I'm trying to say how proud I am, how grateful I am, to be standing in a room with every single person I love."
- ―Wade Wilson[src]
Back in 2024, Wade Wilson prepared for another day of work in the Drive Max locker room, stapling a toupee onto his head and putting on his work uniform. Wilson rode alongside the Chipmans during his shift as they test-drove one of Drive Max's cars. During their drive, Tammy Chipman asked Wilson how the Kia Carnival compared to the Honda Odyssey to which Wilson responded that the Kia didn't "fucking suck." Chipman reprimanded Wilson for using a swear word, to which Wilson apologized, stating that he didn't have kids due to his lack of vaginal sex.
Later in the day, Wilson was again in the Drive Max locker room, preparing to head home. There, Wilson spoke with his friend and co-worker Peter Wisdom, who told Wilson he could return to superheroics, but Wilson reassured Wisdom that he was retired from being a superhero. On their bike ride home, Wisdom further encouraged Wilson, stating that they could go on a mission together once a month, but Wilson continued to turn him down. While the pair were putting their bikes in a bike rack, Wilson thought he saw a construction worker take a photo of him, but Wilson brushed it off and headed to his apartment with Wisdom.
At his apartment, Wilson was surprised by friends who had planned a surprise party for Wilson to celebrate his birthday. During the party, Wilson spoke with many of his friends. Later, they all gathered around in Wilson's dining room and presented Wilson with a cake before singing "Happy Birthday to You." At the request of his friends, Wilson gave a short speech telling his friends how grateful he was for them being there for him. Upon finishing his speech, Wilson blew out the candle on his birthday cake.[1]
Capture of Wade Wilson[]
Hearing a knock at the door of his apartment, Wilson opened it and saw a squad of Minutemen waiting outside. Believing them to be sex workers ordered by his friend Dopinder, Wilson briefly questioned the Minutemen, which caused them to pull out their Time Sticks. Believing they were devices used for pegging, Wilson closed his front door and asked if they could go down the hallway and take things nice and slow.
This angered the group's leader, expressing his disdain for Wilson. Wilson responded by stating that he liked his attitude and that they would "do it angry" before another minuteman snuck up behind Wilson with a Timedoor. The minuteman then grabbed Wilson and dragged him through the Timedoor. Shortly after, the other Minutemen entered the Timedoor, with them and Wilson traveling to the Time Variance Authority Office.
Meanwhile, Time Variance Authority agents under the command of Mr. Paradox began preparing a Time Ripper in a TVA outpost on Earth-10005 in order to speed up the universe's destruction.[1]
Battle at Logan's Grave[]
Escaping the Time Variance Authority Office with a stolen TemPad, Deadpool traveled to North Dakota in the 2030s to prove that Logan hadn't died when he sacrificed himself for Laura. Digging up Logan's grave, Deadpool found Logan's skeleton and became very angry as it was clear that Logan was, in fact, dead. Upon calming down, Deadpool took Logan's skeleton out of his grave and propped it up against a log before briefly conversing with the skeleton.
Deadpool contemplated the fact that this universe had begun to die before an army of Minutemen came through Timedoor. Seeking to arrest Deadpool again, the army's leader asked Deadpool to put down his weapons and come out peacefully. Deadpool chose to battle the Minutemen but promised not to use his weapons, opting instead to fight them off with parts of Logan's skeleton.
As Deadpool laid waste the Minutemen army, more continued to enter the battlefield via Timedoors. Once he had killed most of the army, disassembling most of Logan's skeleton in the process, Deadpool affixed the remains of Logan's upper arms and hands to his arms so that he could use Logan's claws. However, Deadpool struggled to use them, ultimately getting them stuck in two Minutemen. The army's leader scolded Deadpool for his desecration of Logan's corpse, to which Deadpool responded by launching one of his katanas into the minuteman's mouth, killing him instantly. Deadpool then opened up a Timedoor and left this universe in search of another universe's Wolverine who could replace Earth-10005's deceased one.[1]
Attack on Earth-10005[]
- "I don't understand. How are the two of you still alive?"
"You're right, one of us would have been killed. But you put a Deadpool and a Wolverine together, make 'em hold hands while listening to Madonna? Indestructible, motherfucker." - ―Mr. Paradox and Deadpool[src]
Arriving in the universe via an Inter-Dimensional Portal, Deadpool and an alternate universe Wolverine landed on the Kia Carnival that Peter Wisdom had just sold to the Chipmans. The younger of the Chipmans, Elliot and Kevin, were in shock at the sight of the two superheroes. As Deadpool and Wolverine headed off to confront Mr. Paradox and stop him from using the Time Ripper, Wisdom offered to clock Wade Wilson out, to which Wilson responded by saying to clock him out forever. With Deadpool and Wolverine catching up to him, Paradox instructed Ralph to cancel the safety checks on the Time Ripper before he went to confront the pair of superheroes.
As Paradox spoke with the pair, an Inter-Dimensional Portal opened up behind them, and Pyro stepped out, informing Paradox that they had a problem. Then, Cassandra Nova came up from behind Pyro and snapped his neck before tossing him back from where he came from. Nova then began to read Paradox's mind, where she learned of the Time Ripper. Deadpool told her not to worry about it as he and Wolverine were about to destroy it, but Nova informed the two that she planned to use it herself before using her telekinesis to send them flying backward, crashing into Liefeld's. Nova then took Paradox to the location of the Time Ripper and forced him to get it ready for her.
Getting back on their feet, Deadpool and Wolverine spotted the still-open Inter-Dimensional Portal and watched as Dogpool ran out of it before Deadpool embraced the canine. Dogpool was followed shortly after that by her owner, Nicepool, much to Deadpool's disappointment. Deadpool and Nicepool got into a brief verbal skirmish before Wolverine told them to shut up, noting that he'd picked up the scent of many Deadpools headed their way.
The entire Deadpool Corps stepped out of the portal before it closed behind them. The Deadpool Corps informed Deadpool and Wolverine that if they wanted to stop Cassandra Nova, they'd have to defeat them first. The corps leader, Ladypool, unleashed a barrage of gunfire on Deadpool, Wolverine, Nicepool, and Dogpool, leading the group to take cover behind a car. While Deadpool, Wolverine, and Dogpool escaped unharmed, Deadpool used Nicepool to shield himself as he was unaware that Nicepool lacked a regenerative healing factor, leading Nicepool to start bleeding out. As he made his way over to the hot dog stand across the road, Deadpool used Nicepool as cover once again before Nicepool's head was blown off, leading Deadpool to run for cover behind the hot dog stand quickly.
Due to Wolverine carrying Dogpool, the Deadpool Corps then held their fire and allowed the two to cross and join Deadpool safely. Deadpool and Wolverine then prepared to take on the Deadpool Corps head-on and left Dogpool behind the hot dog stand to keep her safe. While Deadpool and Wolverine were able to kill most of the Deadpool Corps members, Babypool laughed at the pair as the corps members were revived due to their regenerative healing factors. Just as all hope seemed lost for Deadpool and Wolverine, Peter Wisdom rode in on his bicycle wearing Deadpool's old costume and told the Deadpool Corps to stand down. Realizing that it was this universe's Wisdom, the Deadpool Corps crowed around Wisdom and celebrated him as they were all friend with their universe's respective Wisdom Variants.
With the Deadpool Corps now distracted, Deadpool and Wolverine headed to the TVA outpost in the nearby subway to stop Cassandra Nova from using the Time Ripper. Just as Deadpool and Wolverine arrived, Nova activated the Time Ripper and began to destroy Earth-10005. Under the threat of Wolverine's claws, Mr. Paradox informed the duo that the only way to stop Nova would be to create a circuit between the Time Ripper's matter and anti-matter cores. However, whoever formed the circuit would be atomized. Undeterred, Deadpool and Wolverine headed down to the core room, where Wolverine was volunteering to do the deed. While Deadpool was seemingly ready to allow Wolverine to sacrifice himself, he forced Wolverine out of the core room and locked the door, determined to sacrifice himself instead.
While Deadpool initially stalled due to his nervousness about his inevitable demise, he soon grabbed hold of one of the cores and attempted to grab hold of the other one but could not. With the fabric of this universe beginning to dissolve due to the Time Ripper, Wolverine knocked the the core room's door, grabbed Deadpool's outstretched hand, and bridged the game between the two cores. The circuit they created successfully undid the damage caused by the Time Ripper, ultimately destroying it as well as Cassandra Nova.[1]
Earth-10005 Saved[]
- "Your universe is regenerating. Whatever you did here, you not only saved your world, you spared your timeline from extinction."
- ―Hunter B-15 to Deadpool and Wolverine[src]
Following the destruction of the Time Ripper, Mr. Paradox was approached by the leader of the Time Variance Authority, B-15, who questioned Paradox about the unsanctioned Time Ripper in this universe. Paradox denied involvement in the Time Ripper and told B-15 that some of his men sacrificed their lives to stop Cassandra Nova from using it. Much to Paradox's dismay, Deadpool and Wolverine returned, having survived the destruction of Time Ripper due to the combined regenerative healing factors. Once they informed everyone of their survival, B-15 was prepared to prune Deadpool and send him to the Void, believing him to be from another universe, until Peter Wisdom ran into the room and stopped her, informing her that Deadpool came from Earth-10005.
The TVA then arrested Paradox before B-15 briefly scolded Deadpool and Wolverine. She then informed the pair Earth-10005 had stopped decaying, with Wolverine seemingly replacing his deceased counterpart as this universe's Anchor Being. B-15 told Deadpool to rest up, believing their work together was just getting started before she began to leave. Deadpool stopped her, however, and asked if the TVA could return some people that assisted him and Wolverine in the void to their home universes and if the TVA could alter some of the past of Wolverine's universe. While B-15 told Deadpool that she would try to help their friends in the Void, she denied the request to change Wolverine's past, stating that it made Wolverine the man he is today.
B-15 then returned to the Time Variance Authority Office. At the same time, Deadpool and Wolverine went to get shawarma while the police and fire department cleaned up the destruction from the prior battle. While they were eating, Dogpool came out from the wreckage and hopped on Wade Wilson's lap. Wilson then asked Logan what he would do next, who told Wilson that he'd figure it out. Wilson then questioned Logan further, asking if he'd see him around, to which Logan told Wilson that he probably wouldn't before he began to walk off. Wilson stopped him, however, taking Logan and Dogpool to his apartment to meet his roommate Blind Al.
With her original owner now dead, Wade Wilson decided to take in Dogpool. Laura was also returned to this universe per Wilson's request. Later, Wilson gathered all of the people who had previously attended his birthday party, as well as Laura and Logan, to have dinner together at his apartment. There, Wilson began to rekindle his relationship with Vanessa Carlysle.[1]
