The Ambush on Torfa was a planned attack executed by the Skrulls to fight against the Kree, Starforce, and to acquire knowledge on the whereabouts of Mar-Vell and her Light-Speed Engine. It resulted in the capture of Vers by the Skrulls.
Background
The planet of Torfa was home to a group of Skrull refugees. The Kree spy Soh-Larr infiltrated the planet to find information on their activities, and Starforce was sent by the Supreme Intelligence to retrieve him. However, unbeknownst to the Kree, the Skrull general Talos had already managed to capture him and extract his memories. After they learned that Vers' energy signature matched that of the Light-Speed Engine, which they desired to use to flee from the Kree, they decided to capture her when Starforce inevitably arrived to save Soh-Larr.[1]
Ambush
The Skrulls reveal themselves and attack
Ronan the Accuser started the attack by leading his three vessels on a bombing run against Torfan settlements. Following this, Starforce landed to search for Soh-Larr. While Vers found what she believed to be Soh-Larr in a temple, the rest of Starforce was ambushed by a group of Skrulls disguising themselves as Torfans. Yon-Rogg was able to hold off the initial assault with his Magnitron Gauntlets, and Bron-Char warned the others when Skrull reinforcements arrived in the form of a ship, which strafed the area. While Starforce defeated the Skrull force with no casualties, "Soh-Larr" revealed himself to be Talos and knocked Vers out with a Skrull Electroshock Baton. Finally, a Skrull ship came in and blew the bridge, separating Vers from the rest of Starforce. Talos abducted Vers and brought her to their ship.[1]

The Skrulls captured Vers in order to find Mar-Vell so they could locate the Light-Speed Engine by reading her memories. While Vers escaped from the Skrulls, the ambush would kick off a series of events that led to her discovering her true identity as Carol Danvers. In addition, she discovered that the Kree, not the Skrulls, were the aggressors in the Kree-Skrull War, with the Accusers being the ones responsible for Torfa's destruction, leading to her deserting Starforce and siding with the Skrulls.[1]
