The Ambush in Axia is a failed attempt by Lord Krylar to apprehend the Pym-van Dyne family and bring them to Kang the Conqueror.

When Kang the Conqueror was banished into the Quantum Realm, he met and befriended Janet van Dyne who was also stranded there. Together, the two geniuses decided to fix Kang's Time Sphere to get out. However, when Janet realized Kang's intention of continuing his goal of erasing the Multiverse, she decided to turn on him and expand the chair's core to an unusable size, leaving Kang to be stranded.
Unfortunately, before Janet sabotaged Kang, he was able to reobtain his powerful armor from the chair, which allowed him to be powerful enough to conquer the city of Axia. During this time Janet teamed up with Krylar and other Freedom Fighters to try to revolt against Kang, to no avail. Eventually, Janet finally escaped the Quantum Realm with the help of her family. Meanwhile Kang convinced Krylar to turn on the Freedom Fighters in exchange for becoming the governor of Axia. Eventually, when Kang discovered a signal from a Quantum Satellite, he hijacked it and turned it into a portal that brought van Dyne, her husband, and daughter, along with Scott Lang and Cassie back into the Quantum Realm.[1]
Ambush[]
During their trip into the Quantum Realm, Janet, Hank and Hope would be separated from the Lang's. Knowing that they would need to find them quickly, Janet planned on using her old contacts from the Freedom Fighters to speak to Krylar to help them out. Eventually, the group would arrive to an Axia bar where they waited for Krylar until he finally arrived. During the conversation Krylar offered the family a drink with a Quantum Creature while explaining his and Janet's previous relationship. However, the family began to get suspicious as Krylar seemed to be stalling by his charm, and bringing up Janet's personal stuff.
Realizing that Krylar sold them out in exchange for his current position Wasp would immediately use her suit's Stingers against the Quantumnauts, as Janet van Dyne would kick Krylar off of his seat. Meanwhile, Hank Pym would grab a blaster from one of Kang's Guards and used it to help Wasp fire on the Guards, eventually the Pym-van Dyne family would make a run into Krylar's Yacht to escape the bar. On his way out, Hank would throw a growth disk at the Axia creature, growing into a larger version of itself, where it would grab Krylar and throw him around, tormenting him as he did them.[1]

Wasp and Hank Pym finally got Janet van Dyne to open up about her time in the Quantum Realm and how she accidentally caused Kang the Conqueror to take over Axia. Now knowing what Scott and Cassie were in danger of, the Pym-van Dyne family began to search for them and figure a way out of the Quantum Realm.[1]
