The subject of this article is part of an MCU franchise story that has been officially deemed to be non-canonical to the primary continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Its events instead occur in another reality within the Multiverse. This universe is designated by the Marvel Cinematic Universe Wiki as the "Purple Heart Emil Blonsky Universe".
The name of this universe was chosen by the Marvel Cinematic Universe Wiki following our Naming Policy. It is not an official name and was chosen in order to differentiate each universe in the ever growing Multiverse.

The Ambush at the Bus Station was an attempt by the United States military and Emil Blonsky to bring in Hulk.

Background[]

"I got it out before they carted it all away."
Betty Ross[src]

Bruce Banner worked on Project Gamma Pulse alongside Betty Ross, attempting to strengthen soldiers for the United States military. For the experiment, Banner injected himself with Gamma Radiation, resulting in him turning into a large green monster known as Hulk who almost killed Ross. Not wanting to hurt anyone, Banner went on the run and tried to find a cure for Hulk. He hid in Porto Verde and worked with a scientist he knew as "Mr. Blue." Mr. Blue figured out a cure, but needed more information regarding Project Gamma Pulse.

The military arrived in Porto Verde and attacked Banner. However, Hulk intervened in the attack and ran away. While soldier Emil Blonsky learned the truth about Hulk's origin and was given the Super Soldier Serum to be able to fight Hulk, Banner eventually returned and traveled to Culver University, where he tried to get the data from the original experiment. Banner found a computer and access the school's network, but found that the military had deleted the data. He came across Ross, and as the two caught up, Ross realized that Mr. Blue was a scientist named Samuel Sterns. Ross revealed that she had stolen a copy of the Project Gamma Pulse data and gave the copy to Banner.[1]

Ambush[]

Bruce Banner and Betty Ross went to a bus station, when soldiers suddenly appeared and ran toward Banner. Banner tried to run away through an underpass, but was stopped by an explosion. Ross attempted to run toward Banner, but was grabbed by a soldier. This angered Banner enough to trigger a transformation into Hulk, who punched the ground strongly enough to cause a shockwave that lifted cars and soldiers off the ground. Emil Blonsky attempted to fight Hulk, but Hulk defeated him and the rest of the soldiers. Hulk then escaped with Ross.[1]

Aftermath[]

"It's time to go find Mr. Blue."
Bruce Banner[src]

Hulk and Betty Ross found shelter in a cave in the forest, where Ross looked at Hulk. She recognized Banner, thinking that he recognized her as well. Banner then transformed back into himself and set off to find Samuel Sterns. Meanwhile, Emil Blonsky healed from his injuries from the fight quickly and became determined not to let Hulk beat him again. He took another injection of the Super Soldier Serum.

Banner and Ross met with Sterns at Empire State University, where Sterns was able to successfully cure Banner, preventing a transformation into Hulk. However, Banner was then arrested by Blonsky's team and brought to Thaddeus Ross. Blonsky confronted Sterns and demanded that Sterns inject him with Banner's blood, turning him into a large monster that was dubbed "Abomination." Banner convinced Ross to let him fight Abomination, who Hulk defeated.[1]
